Dealer Offers extended Warranty

My 2010 PTT has 12K miles. Was offered 10 year/100,000 miles extended warranty through 5 Star for $5K 100 Ded. Zero Dedectable if servvice though purchasing dealer for $5260.

I don't know if its worth it but I'm tempted.

Going to see how the coverage is first then I may consider. This is actually the first car I've actually considered I may keep for 10 years. My lexus LS460 lasted 2 years.

Thanks for posting this. I'm going to look into it. Like you, I think I'm going to have this car 10 years and I have driven it hard it's 15mos of existence.

Let me know what you find out, I'm in the same boat. My 2010 PTT has 20,000 miles on it and it's the highest mileage car I've owned for the last 5 years everything else was gone before the warranty expired. It would be interesting to see what you can find - Thanks

Use the Dealer

Sell it back to the dealer then buy it back. Now you have the CPO 6 yrs and 100,000 miles.

Ok got more info.

For Zero Deductable with service at purchasing dealer
10/100K $5256
8/75K $3132
8/100K $4441

For $100 Ded
10yr/100K $5022

I can scan in the pamplet if people are interested. Planning on keeping the car a while but not sure how long to go for.

I think a key thing you should check is whether the dealer will uphold the warranty even if the underwriter goes out of business (as aftermarket warranty places sometimes do), and make sure that is in writing.

The dealer is my Local Porsche dealer here in Rochester NY (Holtz Porsche), The Warranty is from 5 Star (Wells Fargo owns them) They have a good reputation from all I have looked at on the net. The dealer also stands by them. When I asked what happens if they go belly up they said that wells fargo would have to go belly up. I guess there is no 100% gaurantee in life. Porsche does not offer any Warranties.

I'm going for the 10 year/100K miles Zero Deductable.

Make sure that it is transferrable to a new owner should you sell the car ... could be a major selling point.

It is transferrable for sure. But I forgot to ask what happens if the car gets totaled before it kicks in.

Run the other way with extended warranties. Never worth it, read the fine print... especially if with third party company.

What happens if Wells decides to sell the company and then it goes under? There is no guarantee that Wells will keep this company in the future. They could sell it to raise cash then it is no longer a WF company.

Just sayin......
