DOnt know how I got to look at these videos, but crazy...

Lesson 1.
(For those who think side assist is not important) The Panny should definately have side assist:

Lesson 2.
I think this guys speed in comparison to the other road users was a tad too much...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlG86M5DhBY

Lesson 3.
Some people shouldnt be allowed to drive. Ok, nearing the gas pump..want to stop...I should press the left...no the right pedal!

Well! Good thing I got LCA, and also a good thing I know how to pull into a gas station.

I replaced my driver's side mirror glass with Euro spec mirror, which has the dotted line area for blind spot. Much much better than US flat mirror. The panny mirrors are so small.

Yep, I actually replace both sides on every car I buy because on the passenger side the "Objects in mirror are closer..." message bugs me. So I just replace both sides with the standard (non-US) glass.

Dealer was only able to get the drivers side. I think this is mainly because passenger side mirror is the same except for the OBjects are closer than they appear sentence. Please let me know of your source for passenger side mirror. I wanna replace that too.

The "euro" passenger side is actually different than the US glass. It's just like the euro driver's side in that it's aspherical across most of the surface, and then convex just on the outer edge (with the dotted dividing line). The US passenger side glass is convex all the way across.

Keep in mind that if you do replace the passenger side, the convex area is much smaller. But the advantage is that both sides are symmetric and your depth perception on the passenger side becomes correct again. This can be a big adjustment if you've been used to driving US-spec cars for a long time. So just keep that in mind.

I got both sides from Suncoast. They always know how to get both sides for any VW/Audi/Porsche that I've asked for.

For Mercedes I had to get them from a dealer in the Netherlands.

Cool. Let me know when you install them. I just got my car today, and the dealer didn't know how to easily install the glass! That was a surprise. So I suppose I have to now figure that out myself. Let me know, pls, what you figure out there.

Thanks!

Oh, install is the easiest part. I installed driver side myself. Actually I just changed both mirrors of my SL550 and GL450. Total of 10 minutes maybe.

All you have to do is (for drivers side) set it from mirror settings all the way to the right. You need a little opening on the outer side of the mirror where you can put your fingers behind and just PULL. That's it. The mirror is just clipped in there. And a little force will remove it. There is gonna be a big "click" noise when it unclips, don't worry nothing is broken And unplug 2 cable (heat) replug them into the new one and push the mirror into position. If the mirror moves a little with your force, don't worry the motor wont be affected. Make sure it sits in there well.

If you're nervous about it wait a bit. I'll take a video when I change my passenger one. So you can see more clearly. It should come in monday or tuesday.

Thank you so much! Your instructions were perfect, and I just got the driver's side in very quickly as you said. The passenger side was trickier to remove, as I couldn't get my fingers in there, but I have a set of soft plastic wedge tools and that was the leverage I needed there.

Perfect! The dealer finally quoted 4 hours of labor for this! Your method takes about 10 minutes!

You're very welcome. 4 hours??? OMG which stealer is this? Actually I learned this method from Porsche Boston's previous service manager who also happened to be my friend. At first I thought I was breaking something but it's easy. I haven't tried the passenger side on panamera, I'll try a plastic a prying tool maybe if I can't do fingers.
Make sure it sits in perfectly though, you don't want your mirror fly on the highway

Yep I just went back to the garage and made extra sure they are in there tight and I have the full range of motion still. Both sides look good. Thanks again!

1. Someone watched my 911 videos posted above and copied it or do POrsche owners just hate gas stations in general...

A legionnaire of Grozny-based football club Terek (Chechnya), Jonathan Legear, got into a "drunk" car accident in Belgium. While driving his luxury Porsche Panamera, the footballer rammed the vehicle into a gas station convenience store.

The incident occurred at about five o'clock on Sunday morning in the town of Tongeren. According Sports.ru, the 25-year-old Belgian, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, pushed the gas pedal too hard, and his car drove into the shop for more than ten meters.

A young man was injured by broken glass, adds Football-RFPL.ru. He received medical treatment; his health is out of danger. The footballer has been sent to a sobering station; his license has been withdrawn for two months. The question of penalty, which Legear will have to incur, is being discussed.

Last year, a player of Zenit football club, Alexei Ionov, was detained in St. Petersburg for drunk driving. On November 2, the traffic police stopped his Infinity vehicle, which a drunken young woman was driving. When the officers invited the woman to the police car to make the protocol, the footballer, who was also drunk, got into the Infinity and tried to escape. After a short chase, the car was stopped.

2. Would you leave your car keys in the car???
