Has anyone out there done European Delivery Leipzig? Would like to hear what you thought of the trip and factory tour. I was surprised by the fact that the dealer has to collect a 19% VAT from the buyer and refunds it after the car clears US customs.

 

Haven't dealt with Euro car delivery, but I know about the VAT refund after whatever you buy leaves the country. It's not just cars, it's for anything bought in Germany.

 

I haven't heard of anyone who collected in Leipzig but you can also collect the car in Stuttgart also.

 

You're right about Stuttgart. I'm actually considering doing the factory tour and driving on the track at Leipzig, taking delivery and then driving my new Panamera down to Stuttgart to take in the Porsche and Mercedes museums.
Leipzig has a rich history in music and the arts which is fine but I'm making the trip to Germany for the automotive experience.

 

Absolutely go for it! We did the Stuttgart delivery and a circle tour of Switzerland and n. Italy. The Mercedes museum is amazing and the porsche factory tour and museum is great. Highly recommended for anyone buying a new Porsche. The VAT gets credited back in North Amer.
