GTS vs Benz CLS AMG 63
GTS vs Benz CLS AMG 63
Hello All, New to this forum. I just drove 2013 Carmine Red GTS...... Wow, love at first launch!!!!!!! I was wondering if anyone test drove the MB CLS AMG 63 before they purchased their Panamera?? I am going to test drive the 2013 Benz AMG 63 in a few weeks. I LOVED the GTS, was wondering what to expect with AMG? I have purchase down to GTS or CLS AMG 63.
Thanks
Thanks
AWD vs RWD.
Panny is definitely more upscale! The interior and build quality just blows the CLS63 out of the door. Cls63 is fast though. Do you need all that power?
Lastly, it doesn't sound that good, the cls63

Long time Kip, where have you been hiding.
Those M's without a tune, give the Panny a run for their money. I wonder when people start cracking the ECU what's going to happen
.
To OP, it comes down to this:
Power: CLS
Looks (based on opinion) and Porsche reliability: GTS
Two different beasts, that you really can't go wrong either way.
Good Luck in your decision.

Even though they both have the same air suspension, PTT and PGTS are tuned differently. I've driven both and own a GTS. Overall, CLS 63 is still faster around the track because of the superior acceleration. PGTS is faster around corners and really drive like a car that is half of its size. I would highly recommend you to get the GTS. You won't regret (except the poor acceleration)
More work than play. will have to rectify that. still seems to be the old gts vs ptt fanboy fight

I've posted it before, and I admit it's personal opinion...
But no way am I ever buying any Mercedes. Of all the German cars, they just don't turn me on. Plus they strike me as a car for some old rich fart or a woman.
Nothing wrong with either and I'm NOT trying to be offensive to the many who feel otherwise.
As an ironic aside, I just returned from an astounding rock climbing trip in Kalymnos, Greece. Met a really cool couple from Germany, we were quizzing them about German cars. The guy was raving about Audi and BMW, yet slagging on Mercedes. His opinion was that they had gone downhill. I then asked him about Porsche (never mentioning that I owned a Panamera) and you should have seen his eyes light up! He said he'd had the same Porsche for 24 years and loved it! Said 70% of the Porsches ever made were still on the road.
How cool is that?

Sure, it also takes that long to pay off the car
Good thing my wife don't read the forum or if she finds out Porsche last this long, she will not let me get new ones every few years

I agree 100%. When I was deciding on the next car, I had it narrowed to the cls63 and the penny. The merc is surely awesome, but its " main" selling point was straight line acceleration ( and its fast as stink!). However, unless your 28, how often do you simply stoplight race? To me, the penny is just all around awesome. Whether chilling on way to work in auto, or banging gears on way home, it's just enjoyable. And, it's by no means slow.. Just not a rocket sled, but that's not what I personally wanted. Plus, in the looks department, it's a no brainer. The merc is gorgeous, but kinda blends in. The penny says". What the heck is that?."
Anyway, as others have said...drive both on same afternoon, and you'll know which is for you.
Keep us posted.
