porsche declined warranty claim
I did and that's why I think you got a concentrated light reflection off another car's mirror or something and it did what happens to pleather -- it deforms and partially melts.
This is a shame... I tend to agree that something superheated or damaged that area.. Probably not a spill... Heck, it could have been a reflection from something else, as a previous poster mentioned....
Its very hard to know exactly what this material is.. I am in the furniture biz, and I can tell you that there are so many variations and composites in leather, vinyl, bycast leather, etc., that it is impossible to know what Porsche uses unless you get a spec sheet on the materials.. However, there are more than a few Panamera's in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and other very hot climates, for sure, so I would think that Porsche would have thought about heat resistance......
By the way, The OP mentions that he had a Jaguar before, and feels that they would have taken care of this, but I had a Jaguar Supercharged XF before my two Porsche Panameras.. Coincidentally, I had leather wear problems on my driver's seat during the warranty period, and Jaguar would not replace or repair this..... IMO, the build quality and materials on the Panamera are far better than Jaguars.
