It doesn't look like the leather on my GTS which has the leather package that covers the dashboard and other areas, like the doors. My leather is smooth, not rippled like that. I don't think real leather will do what your picture shows.
Real leather trim is an option on the hybrid, 6 cylinder and 4/4S models that costs around $4-5K and is standard on the GTS.

Unless you got "full leather" option its some sort of synthetic.. However, I do not agree with the earlier poster who said it would wear out sooner than leather... It should be as durable, or more so, than actual leather..
There are tons of Panameras out there with this dash material---many of them in hot desert climates, and this does not apparently happen to others. Its a weird looking impression or indentation.. Are you sure you did not leave a cup or something sitting on dash which got super-hot sitting in the sun and melted the adhesive??

It can also deform or melt if it gets very hot. A reflection and magnification of light/heat into the car and on the dashboard could have caused what we see here.
Years ago we had a 996 with the leather dash. In Texas heat it had a similar issue. It was garaged most of the time. Warranty was over so I never addressed it. When we bought a 997 I looked for one without the leather dash.
Artificial leather can be as durable as leather overall, but depending on how its made, its outside coating can wear off (as seen in the OP's initial post in this thread: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...apointing.html).

...i m the only driver on this car i dont put any thing on the dash hot or cold.. if theat was the case you should see stain in that spot ( you cant clean its very sticky )
If Porsche supplied the materials and the warranty I think they should cover the premature wear. Not sure about the dashboard though since it seems to have been caused by a particular incident.
I had a Corvette under warranty and the driver's seat wore prematurely. The seat cover was replaced by the dealer without any argument. I would think Porsche would be at least as accommodating.
