2011 PTT Replacement Tires

I have a 2011 PTT with OE 20" Turbo II style wheels. Looking to replace the tires. I live in LA so weather is not an issue.

Has anyone had experience with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport and the Pirelli P Zero? Durability, Performance, Mileage?

How does it compare to the OEM Pilot Super Sport PS2?

Thanks in advance.

I have the p zeros on an Audi A 6 and they are very noisy after 15k. I am going to Michelins.

The Michelins are the better tires. I had both on a 911 and the Michelin's lasted longer, were quieter and the better handling tire.

I wouldn't even consider the P-Zero's.

Interesting to hear these comments. I'm guessing the same quietness and longer lasting aspects hold true to the Michelin winter tires as well as compared to the Pirellis.

I have had both on my past two panameras Michelin and Pirelli but this time I tried the All Season tires - I hope they last a bit longer but certainly they are far quieter than any other tire I have had on the car.

I just put on the Super Sports. I like them so far and cheaper than the ps2. I had the pilot sport2s on before. If they are like the ps2, I recommend getting the road hazzard warranty. My ps2 had alot of cuts on them.

Pirellis are good tires. However, I would go with Michelins all day long.

I have the Michelin Super Sport on my 2012 Turbo - My car came with P Zero's. I got 13,500 miles out of the fronts - the rears still had some life left but the fronts were to the cord.

I now have 25,000 miles +/- on the car (so 12k on the Michelins). They are quieter and I am very happy with performance. I should get another 6,000-8,000 miles out of this set based on current wear.

Since you are in LA you might want to consider calling Board Sponsor Wheel Enhancement. I have done business with them for many years, they are super knowledgeable and can give you some good input. They can mount and balance tires while you wait (with an appointment). They will price fairly and get you in and out quickly.

Good luck.

John

Thanks John for the information on the Michelins. I'll check out Wheel Enhancement.

Cheers

I also replaced the P Zeros with Michelin Super Sports. My experience mirrors the general responses. Like most others, I also like the Michelins better. They seem to wear better. I've had no noise issues with either and I must confess that I can't definitively say one performs better than the other.

So, it comes down to wear and there is no question there. The PTT seems to be hard on its front tires, as both the Pirelli and Michelin fronts seem to wear faster than the rears.
