V6 vs s
V6 vs s
I am planning to purchase a new Panamera and am trying to decide between a standard and an S. Can anyone comment on how different the cars would be in everyday driving. Obviously the S has more power when pushed. The question is how satisfying is the V6 on a daily basis.
Thanks

my 2 cents is the v-6 is more than enough power especially just for daily driving. it is a great car and all 99% of people who want a Panamera need, that does not include people on this board!
We just bought a base Panamera. I was initially only going to buy an S or higher, but it really does have enough power to pass safely, which was my concern. It accelerates that big, heavy car better than I thought it would.
I think it's got enough power for it's purpose. If I want fast, I drive the Cayman S.

I test drove the 4 prior to purchasing the 4S - it was almost identical esthetically(assuming the same options). While it was fast, it didn't feel quick and itdidn't have the power I wanted. I also love the sound of the 8cyl coupled w/the sport exhaust when compared to the 6cyl. If you don't care about throatyexhaust notes or torque laden launches and you're not a "pedal to themetal" from time-to-time kinda guy/gal, then go w/ the standard and saveyourself $20K.
This might sound funny but I purposely got the V6 b/c I needed better gas mileage. IF (big IF) I drive close to the speed limit on the highway I can get close to 30 MPG. If not, I get around 27-28 MPG which I need b/c I travel a lot.
I went to the dealership and first test drove the V6 and if I liked it...I did NOT drive any of the higher end ones b/c I didn't wanna torture myself.

HAHAHA- 2thdoctor did the right thing!
I think the V6 is plenty and it moves the Panamera pretty darn good.
I bought the S because I thought the modability factor in the future with its twin turbos was promising.

No question. Get the S. 4S even better for wet roads.
The 6 would be a big disappointment. This is a heavy car and for it to feel nimble and like a true Porsche, you need the 8cyl.
In for a penny, in for a pound. Forget about the penny pinching gas mileage. Get a Prius for that. As it is my 4S gets way better mileage than my S Class, so it's all good.
You'll always be second guessing yourself as to whether or not you should have gone for the better model if you opted for the 6.

Just get the version you can comfortably afford.
Each version is a bit better than the version below it. The dealer once gave me a PTT loaner for my 4S - well that was it for me and I traded my 4S for a Turbo the next week. If I go 70mph on the expressway I can average over 30mpg too!
