Lateral G Force

Been watching the vehicle display for G forces on my PGTS with PDCC. I realize it depends on dry vs wet vs cold vs hot tires. But for hot tires what g force have you guys gotten to before the back end slides out?

I took it to the track and the best I got is 1.3G with Michelin PSS tires. My car doesn't have PDCC and I realized that it's a big disadvantage not having that option if you track your car

I have a PGTS 2013 where does one find the "g" meter? looked all over today Also, mine came with the dreaded pirelli's....cannot wait to swap them out for some michelin's...were you lucky enough to get the PSS' as OEM when car was delivered?

I used up my oe ps2 after 6k miles so I switched to pss. U can read the owners manual and its going to tell u where the g meter is. It took me a while to find it.

I assume the PSS' completely change the characteristics of the car handling wise? Hate these pirelli's Curious, what "cold" tire pressures do you run on the PSS' as your DD?

I searched the manual earlier...no luck I'll try again manana

Thanks

Pss has stronger sidewall so they give you more confidence to drive it on the limit. Personally, I'm a Michelin fanboy so I would say it's a lot better than p zero. In fact, it is a lot better since I've driven my friends e63 with p zero and the tires are just not as good. Overall the pss do not over heat as fast as the ps2, but the characteristics don't change much. As dd I just set them to the manufacturer suggested 41 front 44 rear. I've also tried squared setup with 44 psi and it felt even better. But since I drive it very hard, the front tire could easily heat up to 48 psi so I just keep it 41 for now. I have no problem keeping up with my friend's f10 m5 on the track despite the disadvantage on HP and torque. It's just an amazing machine.

The g force option is on the small display, category is vehicle, you can change the water temp, pressure etc to acceleration g, deceleration g, lateral g forces and other choices. My '14 PGTS has the 20" Pirelli P7's all season.

Thanks PJJ...I'll look this weekend.

OMG, as for the tires, I too am a fanboy of Michelin...Since the P zero's likely have a squishier sidewall, my current 38 squared set-up likely causing some of my "squirelly" feel in the steering (I assume the sidewalls are flexing and making the steering not as responsive). I'll try the 41/44 (or even maybe 43 all around) cold setup this weekend.

Thanks gents

I've gotten 1.2g on the street...

As I've said in some earlier threads, the Michelins completely transform the car. Way better ride, noise and handling.

Thanks Wolverine....If they were not expensive, I'd just rip off the P-zeros right now, at 5K miles and switch in interim, I'll just drive the car hard and burn through them and then switch.

you may have told us before in an earlier thread, but to gather some market data, what tore pressures have you found helpful to maximize performance as a spirited DD from your experience, on your current tires of course?

My GTS came with Goodyear Eagle F1s. I've been pretty happy with them, they handle well and at over 10K miles don't appear to have worn much.

Has anyone here compared them to the Michelins? I see they're both much higher rated than the Pirellis at Tire Rack.

Thanks OMG....switched the pressures this weekend to (cold) 42/43...man, what a difference. The car is MUCH more planted, better turn in, responsiveness, etc. Since the car is so darn heavy, coupled with the likely less rigid sidewalls of the Pzeros, the car needed the extra 4-5 lbs in each tire.

I appreciate the insight!

Cole

You bet!! Just wait until you change your tires. It's going to be even better!

I bet....if tires were not so damn expensive, I would have already ripped these off oh well it'll give me something to look forward to in several months
