Weird problem b/w Key FOB & Car - Porsche Entry & Drive
Ok, folks, need some quick help here - I've got my car at the dealer fixing a couple of problems and I asked them about this issue, which they're not finding a solution to. Here's the situation:
About a week after I bought my 2010 PTT I took the family out for Sunday church and, after church, I tried to open the door but it wouldn't recognize my key FOB. Had to use the small "real" key within the FOB. I figured the battery in the FOB was dead, bought a new one and installed it, and it worked fine. Last Sunday morning I was at an ice rink a block away from the church where the key FOB issue took place and had the same thing happen again. Had to use the small "real" key, got home, and the FOB worked fine at home. An hour later we went back to the same church and, voila, after church the FOB wouldn't work AGAIN. Got home (and everywhere else since) and the FOB works fine. I know, God is trying to tell me something
. Anyway, I'm guessing that something is interfering with signal between the FOB and the car but I have to believe that there's some sort of fix for this. Maybe the receiver in the car is weakening so something like that. The dealer is checking into it and I'm supposed to talk with him tomorrow. I'd love to know if anyone has ever heard of a fix for this issue, some TSB, etc. Thanks much.

my car doesn't sometime recognize my keyfob transmittion from the right side of the car, but the second I walk over to the driver side, it automatically recognized and opens or closes doors.
Ha - I wish I knew what coniguration my car will be in when I finally sit in the seat. I have entry and drive and I swear the car has a mind of its own with respect to seat memory, radio settings and HVAC settings. It's getting so frustrating that I'm ready to disable all the functions. I never know what the AC will be set on when I fire the car up.
RF interference from exogenous sources can cause this issue. The best bet is to try to use the key near the rear of the car - hold your hand (with the key in it) closer to the upper driver's side of the back hatch. Supposedly the antenna resides in that area - or so a service tech told me - I haven't had this problem, so I haven't tried the solution.

Ok, now having the issue again, now it won't recognize both primary and secondary keys. twice when I used the small insert key to open the door, alarm never went on, 3rd time it finally turned on.
Made a call to dealer to have the Keys re-initialized to the car. So hopefully it clears the non-recognition issues.

Just a question, has there been a permanent solution to this issue?
Are you guys all driving a 2010? Mine is an early 2011 with the same issues. Also I notice sometimes right after I turn the car off I can't lock. Maybe a software bug?
I'd say interference but it's happened to me when I had no cell phones in the same place it worked just fine (with a cell or not.)

I had a dash camera installed on the rear window with a power cable hooked up to the power adapter in the trunk. That just killed the "entry and drive" and Radio reception. Basically the power cord that I ran from the outlet to the window (along the trunk seal) interfered with the operation. Its all RF interference. Front dashcam screws up my GPS on my PCM from time to time.
