Successful swap to sports steering wheel

Since I got my Pany Turbo, I was disappointed with the steering wheel, the main issue being the paddles. I did the research and finally figured it all out. The whole install and parts cost me $1250, cheaper than what the Techart paddles would have cost after installation with Sharkwerks. What is funny, none of the Bay area dealers had any clue regarding the parts needed for the install.

The retrofit is pretty simple, you just need the steering wheel (Suncoast parts, paid $650 for a beige one they had in stock) and the multiswitch for the steering column (costs $228 MSRP, $159 with discount). Install was $360 at the dealer (2 hours install time).

Pretty happy with the feel and looks, cannot be happier. The display is now controlled with the additional switch/stalk on the right lower quadrant of the steering column. The only things I lost are the volume control and answering calls, everything else can be controlled with the switch.

BTY, anyone interested in my old multifunctional steering wheel in biege color?

Bay Area being Sonnen and Carlsen?

Yes, I tried Carlsen, Sonnen and Rector. Wrong part was ordered first, but finally after troubleshooting with the parts department, I was able to have them order the correct part and get it installed, and this was done at Sonnen. In the end, I am very happy with Sonnen, they did work with me, returned the incorrect part, and gave me a good discount-- $159 on a part that cost $228.

Bought the Techart kit for $800 and installed it myself in 2 hours - problem solved!

Have you been bothered by the glare off the chrome-colored plastic on the wheel? I drove a loaner with the sport wheel and was bothered by the reflection of the sun off the wheel at particular times of the day.

I always wear sunglasses in the car, so I never had any trouble with glare. In addition to this new upgrade, I had a similar steering wheel in my late 911 GTS and had not trouble with glare at all.

I personally think the aluminum look is sportier, goes well with the PDK aluminum accents, and, all of this, in addition to the awesome feel of the metal paddles if you like to be involved in shifting the gears yourself. After all, this is the same wheel found in the 991 GT3.

When u press the sport button, does the sport light on the steering wheel light up?
My car come with the non-multi function steering wheel.so all I need is the steering wheel which cost $650, right?

Thnx

Yes, the sport, sport plus and launch control light up when activated. If you do not have a multifunctional steering wheel, all you need is the steering wheel and it should be an easy swap. You could likely do it yourself, but not sure if after disconnecting the airbag it will need reset or not.

What color is you car? Suncoast parts has the beige and silver on sale and in stock for $650. Their usual price is $1650, but that is a complete retrofit kit with a multiswitch that you do not need. You can call and ask them to see how much it will cost to order a black steering only, but I think the steering wheel only MSRP is $970.

Here is the link to part. Make sure to confirm with them that the steering wheel has the sports chrono option / lights.
