A/C moisture smell

Question.... now that it got warmer I turned on the A/C on my car for the first time and it had a moisture smell... seems like the A/C has not been turned on for a while.

what can I do to get rid of that smell when I turn on my A/C?

For Lexus, that used to happen. We would turn on the heat, crank it for a little bit once a while. That for some reason would alleviate the musty smell when turning on the AC or interior air recirculation.

With automatic climate control, I always leave the AC on to dehumidify the car - thermostat will keep the temp fine. No smell.

YOu can also try to figure out where the HVAC pulls outside air in the cabin, then, with the system operating on full blast (pulling outside air in, not recirc, mist some lysol spray into the fresh air intake - that will kill the mildew.

I also had a car get a little wet inside and have that wet dog smell. A shallow dish of amonia in the car (sealed up on a hot day) for a day made the smell go away.
