New tail lights

Is it possible to upgrade my 2010 tail lights to the new 2014 ones?

Good question for a dealer. As long as the connections and overall shape are the same it should work.

Spoke to a service rep at the dealer and they said the wiring is completely different. If someone wanted to go through with it I'd imagine it would be very pricey.

Hi,

Not only the wiring, but the shape of the lights, as well as the rear hatch, are different between pre- and post-2014 models. Bottom right-hand-corners are curved on earlier than 2014, but an exact angle shape on the 2014+.

Not obvious to see in pictures, but when they are next to each other at the dealership the difference is pretty obvious. You'll likely need to do some body modification.

What you can do is paint the clear portion of the tail light (leave the reverse part clear) and then smoke it slightly to match OEM smoked lights of 14+ models. This will give you a very close look of 14+.
This is what I'm planning to do, but I'm having hard time finding a shop here in LA that has done this type of work on Panameras before. I don't like surprises and want to have someone do it right.

What is surprising with these tail lights is how poorly they age. Mine are becoming very dull and hairline cracks throughout the lenses.

You can probably take it to the shop and have them lightly sand it and apply a fresh clear coat. This should bring your tail light back alive and make them look like new.
