Help Needed Extended Warranty
Help Needed Extended Warranty
Hello well my PTT is ready but need to get extended warranty. Checked old *thread and found one about "5star" but they do not cover the TT. No it is not a CPO any help you guys can give I thank you in advance
Most of the dealers in Chicago sell and honor EasyCare. I think it's the only aftermarket warranty they offer so I only assume it legit. I have it on my car but haven't used it.
Whenever you google any of these companies, you will find tons of complaints. Tough to know how many people the warranty actually helped (or paid for its self).
I would suggest to work with your dealership. You want to make sure you don't have to go to some shady garage to get work done. I would also think that if you buy the warranty at the dealership, they are more likely to help you out if you get in to a battle.

I am on year 10 of a 10-year 100k mile warranty from EasyCare. I have the "TotalCare" package, which covers everything that isn't considered a wear item. This covers my Range Rover, and has paid for itself many times... purchased for $3200 in 2005. A heated windshield cost $1800 alone, and the list of huge dollar value repairs I've had covered is extensive. A heated seat went out, so they replaced them all (the seat covers.) That means I have new seats since the heating elements were built into the luxury leather seats. On and on. The vehicle shows as new. EasyCare has never balked at anything the dealer deemed necessary. Rental vehicle for time in shop etc...
I do think it is important to buy what a reputable dealer is selling and take the car back to them for all work. A good dealer has leverage with the warranty company IMHO.
On the other hand, the extended warranty on my wife's Cayenne S did not pay off (no repairs outside of regular maintenance whatsoever at 90k miles). It's a peace-of-mind gamble.

EasyCare is only sold thru dealerships, you can't call EC for quotes. I have heard that you current mileage is a huge influence. If you buy the warranty when you buy the car new, I seem to recall $3k. After 50k miles, I have heard of double and triple. How many miles in yours?

EasyCare is good. I have Fidelity (not the broker!) and they were great till the car was totaled!

I looked into extended warranty last week as I have 49k miles and am about to go out of warranty. My car is 2 years old - 2012 PTT, new in May 2012.
I got quotes for a lot of different scenerios. End of the day I should have bought this when the car was "new" or "newer" - they don't like writing these warranties on PTT at this milage.
Here are the quotes for 3 additional years (from now so 5 years +/- frome new) and 36k miles (so 86k), $250 deductible.
Fidelility - $5,869
EZ Car - $15,200 (no that is not a typo)
The others I looked at were not a complete and left for "grey" area on what was covered. E.G. - Honda car (my buddy owns a honda dealer) - $3,895 - $250 deductible - but not a clear indication of what was covered.
I then Talked to service writers I know at 2 different dealers - both said - get one! Typical issues they see on Panny's:
AC controller - $1,800 parts - $500 +/- labor
Thermastad Houseing - $1,250 parts $500 Labor
Fuel door closing mechanism - (entire door must be replaced) - $650 installed
They said 3-4 failures of major components would cover the cost of the warranty.
Here in Calif - you can get a refund for the unused portion of the warranty (time or mileage -whichever gets you back fewer $). So if you don't use it you can get some portion of your cost back.
On my last M5 I got one and never needed it in 45k miles - got about 1/2 back. On my wife's X5 I did not get one and spent $6,500 in 18,000 miles - so I picked the wrong car to get one. My M5 had had no issues up thru 50K - the X5 many. So my PTT has had "no" issues, but still feel I need some coverage to cover major issue or to help sell the car.
Have to make a decision in the next few weeks what to do.

I have family that works for a big dealership so I ended up with B-B 5yr 75k miles for $3,900. Took some work to pull off had to have them buy the car from first dealer then buy it from them (pain in the a%%) but given what I was being quoted I am not mad about it and would do it again to save that $$$$
This is one of the best: http://www.centurywarranty.com/
This one is Good too: http://www.mercuryinsurance.com/insu...rotection.html
and Fidelity.
I would say you have to pick one of the three.
They all have deductable so you rate will depend on the deductable. Search for this topic here on the forums and you will get actual rates.

Thanks - dealer service guys said Mercury was good to deal with, but they no longer sold it.
I will follow up on both.

I bought fidelity when I bought my car new. I opted for 7year/100k warranty. they have different deductibles as well as a zero ded. but they prices all vary. my deductible is $100, which is nothing if something breaks out of warranty.
Called both Century and Mercury. Century referred me to a dealer selling the policy. Dealer said they are not writing the Panamara used - only new. Same for Mercury only will write it when car is new.
Looks like Fidelity is the best option -
$250 deduct - 3yr/36k - $5,500 - 4yr/48k - $6,910 - was best quotes I got.
