How dumb is this idea - sell my PTT and get a Fisker?
No, the problem is the power delivery from the batteries, or with parallel hybrid cars, potential issues with how the power is combined. The batteries continue to be a real problem, and not just in capacity and weight.
I was reading some threads on the official Tesla forum written by P85D owners. That's a 690 HP monster that should be faster than either of our cars, but the batteries have serious overheating issues if you demand power from them continuously.

So, yeah.. "up to 691" would be better and "fastest sedan" is just plain wrong.

That's a bit frustrating to me, because what I really want at this point is a pure electric sports car. Something sexier looking than the Panamera, like the BMW i8 or the Fisker, with real performance, but silent. Failing that, a hybrid that does all that but only uses gas when I'm asking more from it.
I wasn't talking so much about how much acceleration you can get on electricity alone. While I expect that's more with the i8 than the PSeH, since the motor is larger (131 HP > 95 HP) and the weight is considerably less (3300 lb < 4600 lb), I'm talking about the case where you get full acceleration from the combined powertrain, gas and electric, and then fall back on to electricity alone once you're up to speed and don't need all that power anymore.
In theory, that's how the PSeH is supposed to behave if I am in e-Power mode and push the throttle down past the detent. In practice the car still feels really slow when I do this. The power dial may be showing max boost, but it doesn't feel like it. Whereas if I'm in Sport mode it performs dramatically better, but I have to reach over to press e-Power if I want the ICE to turn off again once I'm done accelerating.

I love the Fisker - I have put about 6,000 miles on it since september and I have had zero problems. It is a fun car and I definitely have converted to the "e" group. It is fun driving weeks without filling up with gas. I average about 200mpg with nightly charging to give me 50 miles on battery range. The battery cars are pretty fun. Tesla's just don't seem worth it - they lease nearly what I paid for my PTT and I think the i8 is a great choice.
