19" to 20" Turbo wheels - crazy difference!
19" to 20" Turbo wheels - crazy difference!
Hi all,
I've done a few minor modifications to the new to me 2011 Panamera Turbo. Most recently I switched from the 19" Turbo wheels (with Continental M&S tires) to 20" Turbo II wheels with Pirelli P-Zeros and wow what a difference.
The 19"s definitely gave a softer and quieter ride, but for me I prefer the sharpness gained by the 20" wheels - it makes it handle much more like a sports car. (My opinion at least)
Anyway - if anyone is thinking to go in either direction - you will certainly feel the difference.

Yes I am sure you are right and it has more to do with the tires as mentioned than the wheels - but I will say I am surprised as to how much of a difference...
Here are the changes in tires:
From M&S to Summer
From 19 255/45 fronts to 255:40 20"
From 19 285/40 rear to 295:35 20"
I have little (no) experience with M&S tires as I have lived in the southern US all of my driving life. I am sure that is the majority of the difference. Maybe you guys that go between winter tires and summer tires already knew this
Foe me, it was a big enough change to post about!
Also, I have read in other postings that the Pirelli tires are a bit noisier than the Michelin PSS & PS2s. I had the PZeros on my 981 Cayman S and loved the way they handled (19" btw) but again didn't realize that a tire design could make such a difference in noise (I am not complaining mind you, just noticeable)
Anyway in all - I am ecstatic for the change not only in looks but in handling.
