PSeH Charging Anomaly
I made the suggestion about Porsche supplying a "stick" when the car was dropped off this AM.
I was also very curious about the 918 and whether there is a similar bulletin. The answer is that 918's get hauled to GA for service. The dealer doesn't really have any interaction with the owner. Delivery is even outside their role and responsibility.

Still waiting on car. Yesterday, the story was that they were trying to figure out how to download an SW update for the EVSE from the mothership.
The Nissan Sentra loaner car reallly puts a bow on the situation.

Car still in the shop.
This hasn't reached the level of annoyance and frustration experienced with the absurd(!!!) time it took for Porsche to solve the alarm problem, but we're slowly getting there.

I am hoping they have figured out a way to flash the charging station. I need to bring mine in too for a reflash. It's definitely the EVSE and not the vehicle. I had the EVSE station on constant reboot with only power connected!
I know they are installing new parts on my car. And I would expect a redesign/recall for the charging port at some point. There's just no reasonable way to expect owners to manipulate a stick in order to release their car from the grasp of the EVSE.
I just received an email from dealer. Porsche is pinning all of my troubles on utility issues on my side.
F U C K YOU PORSCHE.
That sums up how I feel about this ownership experience. It's great, they've had the car for a week, and that's the best bullshyte story they could come up with. To top it off, I received the same "charging interrupted externally" message while they had it plugged into THEIR utility service yesterday,
I'm 100% done being the nice guy. I bought a $120K car which cannot reliably charge. Or release the charger unless I use a stick. A STICK!!! And the EVSE? Well, I don't trust that thing to remain plugged into the wall anymore when not in use.
What a miserable ownership experience.
And this is on top of the months upon months upon months it took Porsche to furnish a solution to the alarm problem.

That sucks. I haven't had the problems you've had, but they're not treating you right. I have had the blinking EVSE issue, but only a couple of times during months of ownership, and no actual charging issues even though the EVSE was blinking.
Have you had a chance to bring up the error message disproving their claim yet?
They can't possibly blame the charging port locking problem on your power situation. Did they say anything about that? Besides "it's cold, use a stick?" It's been lots colder here and I haven't seen it, so they really ought to replace the entire charging port if they're not smart enough to figure it out.
Though I suppose that could be a software problem too, since getting the car to let go requires time for the car to think about it.
EDIT: A what point do you just give up on the car and look for alternatives?

I would spend the $500 or so to get a turbo charger or similar and chuck the Porsche EVSE out the window the day I need a stick to disengage the port. The reboot doesn't really bother me as the vehicle still charges.
Again, the Porsche-approved "stick" solution is a complete and total design failure on the car's charge port, not the EVSE. Owner's will encounter this issue regardless of which EVSE is used, as long as there is a latch on the J1772 handle which may be blocked by the charge port's security solenoid.
This problem is only one of the three pertaining to the charge process.

I'm not inclined to cut Porsche much slack on the EVSE. Yeah, it's more complicated than a simple cord, but there are a lot of 3rd-party EVSE's out there, most of which are less expensive, and none of which have this issue. For example, I've used the AV Tubrocord a few times now, and it performs better than the Porsche EVSE when both are limited to 110v.

I'm going into what I call no-mercy mode with this car. The very second there is an issue (any issue) it will be going back to the dealer. The clock is ticking on their side.
And, for the record, I will not ever again use any sort of probe to free my car from the charger. The more I think about the "solution" the more angry I become. The next time it happens, Porsche will be called, and they can deal with a bricked car.
Regarding the charge interrupt message from yesterday... I'm now being told that it was an intentional act on their side to check if the PCC would still report the condition to my mobile device. Which is pretty much laughable. I wasn't informed of any test, in fact I actually reported the PCC message to them on my own. As an FYI.
