I am currently looking to purchase a 2010 or 2011 PTT. Do you have any input on an aftermarket warranty, e.g., Fidelity or others?

There is a remarkable shortage of lower mile PTT available at Porsche dealers - at good prices - they are asking the full Monte right now. So CPO comes at quite a price.

Your thoughts?

 

Keep looking for a low mileage PTT at a good price. Quite a few of here have found them. CPO/or some kind of warranty is a must.

 

My cpo was around $3k. You need a warranty when you buy a first year of a new model. Trust me.. Read my other engine post why.

 

Looking at a 2011 from independent dealer. Being a 2011, it still has factory warranty through August 2015. I had prepurchase inspection - asked about CPO. Dealer said no. They wouldn't buy car and sell it back to me with CPO. But they said they would sell me a Fidelity warranty.

 

I heard great things about the Fidelity Platinum warranty. If I was buying an aftermarket warranty for my PTT that's what I would get based on customer reviews and my local dealer service rep feedback.

One note - you should shop around on these things. You don't need to buy it from your dealer nor do you need to buy it at the time of purchase. You can wait until a few mos before your factory warranty is set to expire. The cost is based in model, year and mileage brackets. For example, on a 2011 PTT there is a big jump in cost at 35k miles and also for duration longer than 3yrs.

When I looked into Fidelity the best quote I got was over the Internet from a Toyota dealer in CT. I think the guys name was Troy Dietrich. Their quote was ~$1600 better than the dealer I bought the car from. I can dig out their contact details if you're interested.

 

Interesting point about the Fidelity warranty. Two Porsche dealers I spoke to recommended Fidelity as a good company. They said they can sell me a warranty and not to purchase it until a month or so before the factory warranty runs out.
I ended up purchasing a 2011 PTT with 11k miles and Porsche factory warranty thru 8/2015. Curious to see what the price will be for Fidelity for three more years. Will try to get an estimate soon and report back to you guys.
