Displaying album artwork in PCM
Displaying album artwork in PCM
Anyone was able to see the album artwork in PCM? I found bunch of info on Cayennes, but nothing on Panamera. I know starting from 2013 models Porsche incorporated this feature in PCM. But for some reason I'm not able to make it work.
When was your car built? The first few months of MY13 does not have this function. I believe it was introduced to cars built after Nov 2012.
Mine is a MY13 as well but was built before they updated the PCM so I am not able to get the album art to display.

Mine was built in 2013, not sure which month, but my warranty started in June. But it shouldn't matter because I know I have latest PCM update.
TGED, your car is 2011? I see that you are using a JukeBox. Does the artwork show if you use USB as well? Mine does not have JukeBox.
Sorry, the pic was from my 2013 Cayenne which was a Jan built, but my friend's 2013 Panamera definitely has the same album art display. I believe they added the Jukebox and album art capability at the same time, I am not sure if you can have the album art through a software update. If you don't have the Jukebox, you car is probably an early 2013 model. I would also very much like to add album art to my 2011 Panny if possible.
Yes, artwork shows with USB stick, iPod, but not iPhone via BT.

If thats the case then it's a bummer... I was told by my dealer that my PCM is the latest version. I guess it is latest for my hardware. It just doesn't make any sense that the same 2013 car can have an artwork an mine can't display it and PCM update can't fix this issue.

MTRX -- stupid question, but I presume you're confident that you've imbedded the artwork into your mp3 files and can see the artwork display on other devices? Artwork does need to be imbedded in the files in order for it to display. I strongly suspect this is the case, but worth pointing out to be sure.
It would be relatively easy for Porsche to provide an album art capability software update for those who want this feature and are not interested in the Jukebox. Therefore there is no need to replace the PCM.
Coming from a 6 Series the album art and the Alcantara headliner are features I really miss.. An update to get this feature should be pretty easy for Porsche to do as mentioned. I wonder if we put a petition together would we be able to get them to release an update..
Great idea!!!! Count me in!!!!
I have a connection with a Porsche rep here in SoCal, I'm going to try to see if I can make this guy do something for me and "approve" my dealer to install the newer PCM. I'm a software developer myself and know that this is possible, however depending on PCM software if they didn't make it compatible with older PCM is may not work and give out errors. What can really work is a flash specific for this album art feature and not the entire PCM version change. But again, Porsche engineers have to have this done specifically for people like us.
