22 inch Tire Size and Pressure

Hey Everyone,

I've been running 265/30/22 Front and 315/25/22 Rear Pirelli P Zero tires for the past 28,000 miles at 41 psi. The tires are finally going and when I go in to replace them I'm told that I needed a different tire size for the rears. 305/30/22.

I can't tell if they are saying this because it's legit or if they are just trying to sell it to me bc they are having trouble finding the 315/25. Also, they told me that to hold the weight of the car my tire pressure should be 46 front/50 rear when initially they said 41 all the way around. The side wall says 50 psi max on the tires...and I told them that but they said it should be ok. I'm no tire guy but wanted to hear your inputs.

I recently saw this article that explains the effects of increasing wheel size. Downside is that it reduces load capacity... http://www.motorweek.org/features/go...versized-tires

Sounds like the most recent guy did more research than the initial seller? But all the sellers here are selling the 315/25 tires. It's just scary driving a car with the MAX tire pressure on it.

I have the same setup on my turbo and when I had new wheels put on this past Saturday Belle Tire set them to 34 PSI. This location deals with a ton of exotic cars so I trust them on the PSI level and it drives great. If they are telling you to go 305 it's because they are not a Pirelli dealer. I tried to get a quote from Belle Tire and they do not carry Pirelli and so I was told I would need to drop down to a 305.

22" on 34 PSI is way too low. When you have low profile tires, you should be up in the 40's to not damage the wheels. I'm always at 42 all around on my 22"s.
