Urgent Advice needed with Panamera Parts

Hey Guys.

Just need advice where to buy the online porsche parts like brakes rotors and accessories.

also anyone can tell me if its better/safe to get aftermarket brake pads n rotors or should i just buy OEM ones.

Please suggest soon as i have a friend leaving from NYC who can buy these items for me and bring with him. So need to order asap so it delivers to him in time.

Check Suncoast.

But you're gonna carry brake rotors on a plane? You know they're really heavy, right?

My friend is traveling but how heavy do you think they would be?
also a friend mentioned pelican parts and is advising me to buy Textar Pads saying they r same as porsche OEM.

And he's also saying i don't need rotors replaced at 20k miles? is that true. I'm having no issues with the current factory brakes...just dealer told me i need pads on next service due in 3k miles.

Please advice guys as i need to buy the parts asap so my friend can bring it along. thanks.

I have been considering EBC redstuff pads to cut down on the brake dust.

I am not changing my rotors. they have plenty of thickness left and they can be resurfaced easily.

Rotors are 12kg (27 pounds) each. Your friend is not taking a set with him on the plane, even in checked luggage. That's more than his entire weight allotment right there.

Yeh

Rotors don't seem possible. but now looking for some place to buy TEXTAR brake pads around nyc. as Suncoast and pelican both will take 4 days with sane shipping costs.

anyone from NYC could tell me a shop which would sell aftermarket brake pads n mounting kit with it.

Go with OEM. Will avoid squeaking issues for sure. Tried other after markets and they are not advisable. Unless you are tracking the car and need high performance pads. Check the thickness of the rotors. If they are within spec you should be good. You can go a little bit under spec. When you are putting in new pads they do compensate for the reducing rotor thickness until they start getting thinner. And do not cut the rotors unless you have a vibration during braking - this shaves off rotor thickness unnecessarily.

thanks for the advice. especially on the rotors. seems overkill to me to replace the rotors at 30-40k miles if you're not tracking the car. expensive overkill.

Hey guys

Hey guys

Got rotors tested they r well within the spec and don't viberate at all.
Going to buy Textar as its confirmed that Textar and pagid both manufacture pads for Porsche and their OEM replacement pads are exactly same as Porsche without the box. Apparently pads inside Porsche box will also carry Textar n pagid stamp for legality issues.

So I'm ready to buy either looking online for them. I also need pan head screw sensors and another head screws along with pads

I use a rotary wire brush to clean off the rust or caked in deposit if any espacially on the edges and the vent area of the rotors. I Also paint the vent area and the sides (tape the area where the pads contact). Looks and stays clean that way.

I think you mean the pad sensors. They will break when removing. Replace them. Think they are around $14 each. I did not need to replace any other bolt.

no I'm asking about the anti rattle springs. i got a written estimate from the dealer which mentioned these 2 sets of springs back and front costing approx 210$ in us and about 300 here. do i need to change them or is it safe to use existing Springs

No idea what anti rattle spring they are referring to. Nothing I see is part of the brake/rotor assembly. Maybe they are referring to #13. That doesn't need to be replaced every time pads change. Unless it is rusted badly.

Yes its part 13... Porsche OEM Part Number 97035295900 and 970351295901. My dealer and pelican parts both feel it should change with every brake job. its around 200$ for both so i guess will change it as well.
