Red Calipers

I'm sure Porsche had a reason for it, but I'm disappointed my wife's PS didn't come with red calipers like my 4S does. I appears my only option is to have them painted or powder coated to have them.

Has anyone else painted or coat their calipers to be red?

The color is/was used used to describe different brake system series. Black or grey for standard, red for sport, green for hybrid and yellow for PCCB brakes.

I think the Panamera and Panamera S have the same brakes, black for the P and silver for the PS. The GTS gets the red calipers and have larger rotors. If you like red, paint/powder coat is your cheapest option.

Just paint them using G2 caliper paint. Remember to prep them really well, and you can also apply high-temp clearcoat.

I get my cars calipers painted at the dealers or a well known trusted garage, they paint it like the factory, price wise id say they are okay-ish but are worth it knowing that the paint job wont be gone after a while.

That's what I'm going to do. My wife was disappointed the calipers were not red like my 4S. So I'm going to get them painted.

If it were my car, I wouldn't paint the calipers red because it will imply that the brakes are something they are not. To me, that's kind of like putting an M badge on a non-M car.

However, it is your car so you can do whatever you want...

Maybe but if someone put a turbo badge on a PS or 4S that would be implying something its not (although their personal car and choice ) but with brakes you could personalise the car to your taste. I know you were stating your opinion and I respect that but its not like he was trying to sell the car claiming he had the sport brakes on, or even bragging about it to someone.

In the end its all personal preference and opinion to me the most important thing is that you like how it looks and makes you wanna take it for a ride everytime.

You can also wrap them in vinyl. I don't know how that holds up people do it out there.

I am okay with anyone who wants to repaint their brakes to Red. It doesn't imply anything to me. When I was originally looking at a Panamera 4 I was turned off by the silver calipers and had every intention of painting them. I ended up getting a Turbo and not worrying about anything .

Accusing of posing I think is a bit extreme, its not like you have ugly calipers like most other manufacturers. Yellow could possibly delve into that area only because it could come across as PCCB but honestly who gives a damn? Go get them done. However they do look really odd with small 18" stock wheels. Would be a nice time to upgrade.

Powdercoating is best but painting with high-temp paint is much faster and also very durable. A lot of wheel refinishers also do this service. Make sure you the get the right sized "P O R S C H E" stickers.

While you are waiting to get your calipers painted you can give them a little color by hand painting the PORSCHE lettering red. You don't even have to take the wheels off depending on access between spokes! This might make your wife happier!

To say I am posing is a bit extreme....since I have an S, I would think the calipers would be Red...it's been like that forever. Now it appears that different with the Pana....just don't know why they would do that. It's a small issue...but a question I was looking for since the dealer never knows anything.

I personally think it's a nice touch to the car and adds to the overall look. Now painting them Yellow would be posing for sure...but Red to me isn't in this case. My 4S having the red calipers, I just assumed the PS would be the same.

My wife sees little things like that and is matters to her...because she likes the red calipers. Funny thing, when we were looking for her car...she had made it mandatory that the car was an S, despite not being able to find one in my area with color combo she wanted. When an S came up...boy she jumped on it...but she was dissapointed when she looked at it and no red calipers. You guys know how it is....right?? LOL

We all have reasons one way or another..but I will still get the calipers painted red for her.
