Hello dear 6speed member !

I have a problem with my ptt. At 5000 rpm it makes a high frequency sound , kind of whistle sound.I dont think it has to do with turbocharger or intake because boost is ok . Made some research and a solution could be engine belt ?
Maybe it needs to be replaced or maybe water pump is going bad and it doesnt spray the belt with thr neccesary water requirement .
Another problem can be camshaft . Next time I will go to the shop to check them because 2 panamera 4s had camshaft failure here .

You are sure it is not the waste gate from the Turbo's you are hearing ?
You can check the engine belt by spraying a LITTLE WD-40 on the belt while the engine is running. If noise stops - it is the belt.

I doubt the camshaft will make the noise you described.

 

Or it can be the pdk . It does it at 5000 rpm going full throttle , mostly when engine is cold . So maybe it can be the pdk switching to another gear.

 

That is also possible.
