Check Engine light

My car was sit doe 1 week due to the snow and last night i warm up the car and the check engine light came on, but the car runs with no issue and still smooth. Does anyone know what cause the light to came on? I already schedule for next week and see what's going on.

One usual cause could be evaporator leak, check that your gas cap is tight. Any OBDII reader should be able to tell you and clear it.

You're right! The engine light went off just on my way home.

Do i still need to go to the dealer to clear the code if it already reset itself? Will the code stay in the memories? Thanks

No you don't need to see a dealer. Even if the code is still stored in memory it doesn't really matter. It would be nice for you to know exactly what the code was though. So if it happens again use an OBD scanner (autozone will do it for free) and write down the code.

Now if your check engine light ever comes on the dash and it is flashing (rather than just being on solid) then see the dealer right away as something is very wrong.
