They say things like “that car looked like is was really handling well”, and “that’s a beautiful car you just don’t see a lot of around here.”
It’s crazy when you see how large it is compared to a cayman or 911. Most of the cars at group drives are caymans and non turbo 911. From an exclusivity standpoint the Panamera is a class above in price and refinement so I’m not sure why people would hate on it unless they just don’t like how it looks.
They know Id smoke many of them on a track just look slightly more clumsy doing so . No but seriously I’ve only had one negative comment by a kid with a 1990’s Cobra..... actually many don’t know that much about the car oddly for being porsche guys.
The Panamera really gets quite a bit of attention at cars an coffee, especially when i leave the doors and windows open so they can see the interior. I also like to leave the window sticker on the dash to get a lot of “jesus /&:$:@“ comments when they lean over to look at it. The reality is, yes it’s a 4 door but they are actually nicer inside than all but the newest 911’s.
That's fantastic. This being my first Porsche (I'm very lucky and thankful) it's all been an awesome experience so far and I've definitely noticed more heads turn and pointing than I'm used to. Even non car guys are like "damn that's nice," and I take the small jabs in jest cause I know they're not serious (supers husband).
This is by far the most luxurious, well equipped, ridiculously smooth handling car I've ever driven, let alone owned, and I could not be happier with my decision (cross shopped an odd bunch, Macan Turbo, Audi A5 Sb, Mercedes & Volvo wagons). Also notable is the handling difference the press of a button actually makes, for such an outrageously big, heavy sedan. It's much, much bigger in person and especially when parked next to a regular sedan. It's unreal, like my brain can't make sense of how good/smooth the power delivery is, only to realize I've exceeded to speed limit some miles back... Simply bewildered. I've been daily driving my "beater" '01 Z06 for 9yrs and have a very good idea of how fast I'm going, but this GTS, I might need a radar detector because my sense of speed is somehow nonexistent.
Now I'm not saying this is the most capable and insane handling sedan ever, there's always something better, but this thing checks so many boxes and leaves any driver quite speechless. Oh ya, and the sticker shock for my friends/family is one of the funnier moments.
so far I've heard nothing but good thing from the other Porsche pushers, at the after drive lunch the Boxster behind me went on about how impressive the car was and how he had a tough time keeping up :-)
the window sticker is a a fun shocker, but then I tell them how much I payed they tend to ask "why so little" and "what is wrong with it" ?
I have to explain the cars just depreciated quickly and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the car.
The Panamera just don’t hold their value like a 911. After the initial hit though they actually stay in that $40,000-$50,000 range pretty well until really high miles. But look at any regular car with 100,000 miles they are with $5000 after 7 years when $50,000 new. It’s all relative. There is also the fact that the Panamera is not cheap to fix.....fortunately porsche continues to be the most reliable German car for the most part.
