Power limit for PDK?

Hey people,

I have seen a ton of stuff about VR or GIAC tunes, flashing ECU, IPD Plenum, exhausts, filters etc. I'm curious if anyone knows the limits of the PDK gearbox?

If someone made the car breathe and flow better with the things above, would it put too much strain on the box?

I think I read that PDK handles something like 738ftlb torque and with all of those pieces done, with the overboost mode in Sport Plus, could be getting close to that, no?

i don’t have the answer, but with a tune, exhaust, IPD, you won’t be anywhere near that. I would guess higher flow fuel pump, injectors, bigger turbos and inter coolers you may come closer.

Yeh, I would have thought around 610-615 with all that done but it was more out of curiosity 😁 I come from Supra backgrounds so not unfamiliar with throwing more things at a build to increase power so before I even plan on fiddling I thought it would be worth knowing the limits.

Also would be curious to understand how much the overboost actually kicks up the torque figures if anyone knows? I have read conflicting reports that say pushes it to 1.0bar and some say 1.2bar.

From the supplier ZF: PDK Torque Limits
Model. Torque. Application
7DT-75. 500 N.m. Panamera
7DT-75. 780 N.m. Panamera
7DT-75A. 500 N.m. Panamera 4WD
7DT-75A. 780 N.m. Panamera 4WD

There appear to be two different models of clutches in the transmissions based on the engine output.
For the 2014 models (which I have) the rated engine torque output is:

Base / 4. : 400 N.m
S / 4. : 520 N.m
GTS. : 520 N.m
Turbo. : 700 N.m
Turbo S.* : 722 N.m

So I hope they used the higher (780 N.m) unit in all but the Base/4 models. (Have not been able to find the exact transmission model on my 4S yet --- changing engine oil soon so I will look for a model / serial number when it is up on lift)

Not really too much room for torque increase in a Turbo / Turbo S if you want to stay within design specs.

Regards,
