I'm LOVING my Panamera Turbo S and and still think my 996 C4S rear is the best Porsche butt.

This brings me to my initial impressions of 992 exterior (front view and the interior looks nice).

1. The rear slats on the deck over the engine - going front to rear...looks funny.
Weren't the older 911's horizontal, including on the original 930 Turbo?
I know this is on 991.2 also, but I'm still not a fan, and wished they would go back to older versions.

2. The rear tailights - why so thin? They looks like thin slits for eyes.

3. The decal of 911-semi attached to Carrera 4S...looks funny, like trying too hard to be cute. I prefer simple.

Perhaps the looks will eventually grow on me, but for now I'm still a pre-991.2 appearance guy.

like most recent 911 evos, i'm not wowed at all, but it is a safe evolution of the design, as not to leave any true fans behind.
the use of black plastic front and rear looks cheap. front end has a 'gaping' appearance - not a fan.
also think it's kind of lame to introduce the 'NEW' 911 with a tail treatment that has been out on the panny and the 718 for a couple of years now. the 911 got the treatment last? what is there to be surprised about in that trickle down? i like the treatment actually - most daring change in the entire model, but all other models have it already! underwhelming.
tailpipes are ok. no issue with the placement really, but they clearly mimic the audi R8. this thing seems derivative in so many ways!
not a fan of the vertical slats and the brake light looks out of place there. horrible choice - what was wrong with a barely seen slat above the window??
the best view is from above, where it seems to mimic the 993 body lines. the rear arches look promising in pics - hoping the hips stand out in person.
also, look at a 3/4 view from the front and tell me that doesn't look like the back 2/3s of the 370Z.
just another safe evo from porsche. not surprising.
i will be keeping my 993 WB quite a bit longer...
