Rear spoiler in winter

Read another quick post about an owner keeping the spoiler extended in the winter so it doesnt break with the cold/snow/freezing.
Anyone have any issues with the spoiler? Is it a good idea to keep it extended?
I was thinking of extending and greasing everything to be on the save side, but didn't think extending all the time was good, as snow, ice and crap would get into mechanics of the wing as well.

Thoughts/experiences?
Oh, I'm located in Toronto so its cold, but not crazy cold.

I used to drive w/ mine up all the time, and now I let it deploy automatically - plenty of winter driving in cold snowy conditions and no issues w/ the mechanism freezing yet. Doesn't it snow in Germany? I'd think they would be designed to handle it.

Come on, it’s Toronto, does it even get down below -20
more than anything else, it’s ice build-up you need to worry about. More chance of damaging the components if it’s all iced up, versus just leaving it up. Unless you are getting freezing rain or snow, thaw, freeze cycles, I wouldn’t worry about it.
