When I went to replace the main air filter on my 2013 GTS, I found that 7 out of 8 bolts that hold the top and bottom portions of the airbox were completely corroded. Only thing keeping the two sections together were the one good bolt and corrosion. Called dealership and the service manager said that this conditiois normal for vehicles in the Northeast. Seems wrong that Porsche would use hardware that can't survive in environments that their vehicles are operated in. Have others experienced this problem?
This is surprising. I would send this to PCNA and ask if there is an upgraded bolt available. Wouldn’t surprise me if they were not aware their supplier is selling parts with substandard corrosion resistance. The body has coatings that support a 12 year rust through warranty because they know some cars are operated in area that salt the roads.
