See this article on Automobile Magazine. A six-speed-sequential manual transmission. The 970.1 was available with a 6-speed manual gearbox for the first couple of years from Porsche, but option only available in the European market.

Ahhh ok, makes sense. I didn't know if they did a Quaif or something like that. Nice article.
