When I started down this tint rabbit hole I looked all over for average ceramic install prices and I was seeing anywhere from $600-1k, like damn. Happy to report I'm getting ceramic on all windows for $450, I think the windshield strip $25. I would love to get the windshield done, but I've got a stupid chip in it that looks like it'll spiderweb any minute. So a $25 strip on the top isn't too bad if it actually happens.
Is Ceramic the best tint? Please educate me if you know. Also, I want to make sure my Valentine One is not obstructed by any new tint I choose. What's the best percentages of tint to use on rear windows as opposed to front, and then on the windshield?

IMO, I like to spend around $380 for tint with best material and workmanship. I want to make sure it is done 1 time correctly. So far I am lucky for all my Porsche. I don't want to do a windows due to squeaking and don't want to spend so much time to change the sweeper. The tint on the windows is much more. Low 300 is good enough for me. LOL ...

I see some BMW, the tint was done at factory, I don't feel heat radiate through the glass. I know it is more expensive ...

As far as I know "it's the best" at rejecting heat and that was my primary goal. Now there might be something better out there ie. new films/tech etc, but the one tint shop I trust only offered ceramic... And I can't recall the brand at the moment, he did say it reflects upwards of 60%+ of heat entering the vehicle.

As far as the windshield, I will be doing that at a later time whenever I get it replaced and I'm not sure how that would affect any radar detectors since I don't use one. Also you mention you don't want squeaking and I don't know what you're referring to, as I've had the windshield done on my other car and there is zero squeaking, so I don't really think that's too big a concern. Again about the radar detector, I'm absolutely certain you can find information somewhere here on 6speedonline as there's thousands of people who no doubt got their windshield tinted (ceramic or whatever) and of those people, someone had to have shared info regarding the use of a radar detector.

Lastly regarding percentage, that's going to have to be your call, because every state has a legal limit so you can either follow that, or take the risk of going darker and then getting pulled over, fined and later have to remove it. Typically people go darker on all back windows and legal limit on the front windows, but me personally I don't like the mismatched look and prefer uniformity. So I opted for 1 shade darker than my state's legal limit on all windows as there was only a minor visible difference between the two and now I'm hoping I don't get pulled over... Fingers crossed haha.

Just got my felt and did the drivers side door, was fairly easy and straight forward with one exception, the videos I watched all showed them simply pulling the door panel off by pulling out, you need to lift the door panel then pull out, moves quite easily once you figure that out.

thanks for posting this elshiz, hopefully I can nurse my tint along for a few years before I have to replace it

Oh man no worries, I'm glad I could help out and ya you got it spot on about the door panels. Though I will say they're much easier than most door panels I've messed with, what with all those plastic clips that tend to break and that's just a major pita.

Well here's to hoping your tint lasts a bit longer.
