Hi,
Just bought a slightly used Panamera Sport Turismo Black-Black Turbo S e-hybrid. The car is phenomenal and I am currently taking it for it’s first road trip in Europe, down the Autobahn and up the Stelvio pass and down in Italy.
Really happy about the car, but considering a few tweaks (always had a few mods on my cars):
- The car does not have the Sport Design package. I don’t know how much the difference is on the parts, especially the side skirts and the rear diffuser. They are not painted on my car, but are the side skirts also wider with the Sport Design package? Any difference in the design of the rear valance?
The car has 21 inch sport design wheels (both summer and winter). Never been a fan of black wheels, although they are ok given the chrome ring, but struggle to find pictures of 971s with after market rims that are not black. Also think that I nice offset would look even better, as they are a bit tucked.
Extremely happy about the car, nice, tight and extremely quick (have a 3 month old baby in the back, so limited how much I can push it through the corners 😜
Trip was fantastic 😄 . Car behaved great. The hybrid solution really came to its right. 4300km, of which 1350 was electric or coasting. Total fuel consumption on the trip was 8.9 liters per 100km, which is not bad with a fully loaded car (makes me wonder what the regular turbo would consume). This especially gives effect for city driving and heavy traffic (where only able to charge it a couple of times). The Stelvio pass from Davos to Stelvio was especially impressive (See top gear’s “world’s best driving road” to know what I refer to). Started with fully charged battery with 43 km range from Davos, hit the top with 0km range after some spirited Sport mode driving, and reached the buttom with 28km range achieved just from regenerative braking. Rear wheel steering also gave fantastic agility in the tight corners.
Did not test top speed or anywhere near it given the baby in the back, but hit 245 km/h on a short run.
The Italians on the other hand, are just plain right idiot drivers. They are fantastic people when you visit Italy, always friendly, smiling, and the hospitality is great, but behind the steering wheel, they immediate grow horns in the forehead, and have no concept of keeping distance, tailgating like crazy. Nearly had two head on collisions from lorries crossing into my lane. In general the roads are also third world country roads, so much prefer the alps for driving in Europe (Italy is really a concern for the European economy, as it has not developed at all in the past year we have visited every year).
Only bad experience with the car is horrible wheel hop in tight corners in the wet, but I guess with the 21” rims with wide tires, that has to be expected.
