For those who don't yet have damage, I recommend to put one of those ceramic microcoats that you normally put on paint. They filter quite a bit of UV, I expect that it will help. And on those plastic parts you can do it yourself, just make sure you tape off the actual paint. Once you touch a panel you need to do it completely.

Yes, it is $900 bucks at the Porsche. Body shop can do $450 including part and labor. Part is $40. Porsche paid 1/2 even my 2016 car was under warranty. SUCK !!! I don't understand why. I called Porsche America and complained about it. Even though I currently have 3 Porsche. SAD !!!

If you vinyl wrap them make sure your clear coat hasn't been exposed. Mine has and when the shop wrapped them it still bubbled up from the missing clear coat. Now i can see where it was sunburned through the vinyl. The shop said i would have to have the pillars sanded and re-wrapped.

my 2016 pan has this issue with 2 panels left and right. I am thinking to bring it to body shop, let them remove it and paint matte over it. Replace will have this issue again after few years. Porsche will not cover it even though my car is still under warranty till april 2020. Sad !!!

Tried a quick fix as suggested by another member -

I was concerned about the edges but I am very happy with the end result and for $70 I think it works well. If it were a top of the line model I would have gone the body shop route.

You could move to the UK? Absolutely zero chance of any sun damage here.

I tried having mine professionally wrapped. It looked good at first. Now you can see bubbles because of the missing clear coat underneath. I have a top of the line model but I still might consider these temporarily until I take it to a body shop. Thanks for posting the link.

3M Appliques...
Quote: Has anyone replaced their exterior door pillars. Mine are getting real bad from the Florida sun, both sides. I was thinking about vinyl wrapping them, but I would rather replace them.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Drew

I have the same issue... new parts are around $90 each, I'm not sure how much of a hassel it is changing them out. I bought a set of 4 "face plates". with 3M backing off ebay, fit nicely and look like new.

Same issue here. Sunburnt on right side. I bought the parts from suncoast ($80 each) and looking to install them myself.
Found this video that shows a Macan replacement, but Panamera seem more complicated.
Has anyone done this themselves?

Never mind. I went to my local body shop with the two trims and they did the instal for $160 per door. It took them a whole day to do the two. So total cost of $480 for one side of the car. This compares to $1400 quoted by local Porsche service center.

Good results for eighty bucks.
I used the "stick on" variety from ebay... eighty bucks and you can't tell them from the complete replacement pieces... we'll see how well they last... my concern with the stock full replacement parts is that the originals only lasted 4 years... will the new OEM pieces fare any better for all that outlay???

How easy to install and what do I search for in eBay to find what you talking about?

Very easy to apply... 3M backing allows slight repositioning but you need to be careful... here's a link to the ones I bought... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Windows-doo...m/114256696540. Good Luck!
