Before replacing this pump verify the low pressure pumps in the tank are working properly. (How, I'm not sure yet)...
Before tinkering, because opening the driver door apparently activates the HPFP, pull fuse 47 on right side of dash...
The Master Fuel Pressure test kit from Harbor Freight I'm afraid to say is a piece of junk. I set it up, and although I snugged everything down tight the setup still leaked, throwing a low pressure code. I wasn't able to test the low pressure fuel pump because of this, but at least when it's starved from there (because of the junk test rig) it throws a code, which I'd never seen before. (Good sign regarding the low pressure pump(s).)
Car is idling ROUGH afterwards, and stalled when oil temp reached 200 F just idling in the driveway. Delphi HM10101 is a no go. I called Delphi directly and asked about availability since Summit Racing says ships direct from vendor. "Not available with no ETA". Asked my wife and advised I don't think it's a good idea to trade her in as is. Before she finally answered she said a lot of dealerships are trying to contact her, she's considering a Mercedes GLB or Subaru Ascent as I understand. Finally when I asked her again, because sometimes she avoids answering when she doesn't really have an answer, she said "it's up to you". I've ordered the HPFP and cam cover from FCP. Now to wait...
I got news the HPFP is on it's way. Purchased a Lisle 54150 at O'Reilly and popped off the wiper arms. I used a quarter to rotate the plastic screws on the cowl panel covering, rotate 90 degrees counterclockwise and allow them to pop up. Now I'm stuck trying to remove the cowl panel cover without breaking the windshield....
The proper pry tool helped me get the cowl cover off:
Next step is wiper linkage. Instructions note to remove power from the wiper motor so you don't accidentally disfinger yourself. I pulled fuse 48 on the left side of the dash. I pulled the right side fuse 47 for the fuel pump lest I forget.
Stuck on this connector:
Looks like this on the other side:
Need to go to dinner as everyone is at the table. If anyone has a good tip on how to release it I'd appreciate it. Thank you.
Instructions say to push linkage to the left, this instruction I didn't quite understand. I moved the arms leftward and it cleared the connector some, but moving the assembly left strained the wiring harness. I wrapped the ends with cloth towels to keep me from damaging anything and moved it towards the right (anatomical left). This gave me better access to the connector. Squeeze the very end and pull, connector slides out with ease.
(Anatomical) left side is similar. Disconnect two connections to prevent accidental damage and then three screws:
Left side removed with screws next to mounting holes below:
