I was in San Diego a couple of weeks ago and got a flat tire on my 2019 Panamera GTS. I called Porsche Roadside assistance and was told they would NOT install the "sealer in a can" and pump up the tire. They would only tow it to the nearest Porsche dealer where I could buy a new tire. When I got to Porsche of San Diego, I was told they do not stock my OEM 275X35ZR21 Perrelli P Zero N1 tires, but could get one in 2-3 days. I live in the Palm Springs area (125 miles away) and being stuck in San Diego for 3 days was not acceptable. The service rep told me he could over inflate the tire and I could drive down the street to Discount Tire where they would plug the tire. That is what I did and drove home that day. Now I am scared to go out of town with the possibility of it happening again! I'm replacing the tire next week and taking the repaired tire home to hopefully use as a spare. I'll put the spare in the rear only whenever I go out of town. However, I cannot find a reasonably priced 21" wheel. Porsche's is about $2,500! Anyone out there have any thoughts or suggestions for me? Thanks, Ed

 

Check any major dealer's website for 21" wheels that fit your model. Jot down the part number(s). Use these part numbers to do an eBay search for a used wheel. Also check on-line Googling just the part numbers.

 

I wouldn't worry about it that much. While it's disconcerting having no spare tire, I've had my Panamera for 5 years now and have driven it on quite a few trips of 100 miles away or more with no problems. If you keep decent tread depth on your tires you have very little to worry about and there is always the sealant (I replaced the Porsche sealant with a good can of aftermarket sealant that seals and inflates the tire). Also, the front and rear wheels/tires are different sizes so a spare only has a 50/50 chance of being the solution to your flat.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was just able to locate and after market 21" wheel for an advertiser on this site: "getyourwheels.com". They have wheels made in Taiwan. My cost is $441 delivered. I'm hoping I'll be happy with it.

 

Apologies, but I'm a bit confused. You had an issue with your tire and the cost/availability of a replacement 21" tire for your stock wheels. So you bought new 21" aftermarket wheels? Or did you mean you bought new tires from "getyourwheels?"

*edit* wait ... You got a 21" wheel so you can mount your patched tire to as a spare for road trips? I think I got it now haha
