panamera out of storage- check engine light?

hey all so after having the panamera stored for 6 months on a battery maintainer i started it today, on the first start up i had the psm/check engine light come on. i started two other times during the day after a few 15 minute drives but the check engine light still comes on as soon as i start the vehicle (the psm and other warning lights have gone away). is the check engine light stored and wont go away until i take it to porsche to clear it? its a bit rough idle when starting the car but nothing too bad and while driving the vehicle i dont notice any power loss or anything,

anything i can do to get rid of the check engine light or do i have to go to the dealer? or will it go away as i keep driving it? today is only the first day i started driving the car from out of winter storage

Personally I’d put some injector cleaner in it, try to drive it on a long journey, fill with fresh fuel as soon as poss and see what happens.
And invest in a code reader. It will pay for itself in no time.

You don't need to go to the dealer. But if you want to read and then clear the CEL, go to any auto parts store and they should do this for you at no charge. Hopefully something very minor, like when you topped it off fully - check gas cap and emissions codes may just go away. Good luck!

i took off gas cap and there was a small puddle of what seemed like water below the gas cap, also seems like a small hole is below the gas cap hence why there was a puddle of water there, is this normal? i took off gas cap and put it back on tight but the check engine light still comes on

at dealer they used some scan tools but they werent able to figure out why the light is on and they could reset the code. they did mention that it sounds like a misfiring when the car starts up. does this mean its a coil/spark plug? I just replaced that both those things 2 yrs ago and its only 15000km since all of those were replaced!

the car does burn oil at quite a high rate so wondering if the oil is fouling the spark plugs? before i had it sit for 5 months it was running fine....i just started running it again yesterday.

any opinions appreciated, i attached a pic showing the small hole under the gas cap.

That hole is a drain for over-filling your tank so gas doesn't spill all over your car. Have you had a chance to warm up the car and take it for a spirited drive? Maybe all it needs is an Italian tune-up since it's been sitting so long...

get some fresh gas in there and do some driving.

next time add some stabil before putting it away, saves a lot of headache.

hey thanks for the replies, its still over 3/4 of tank full of gas so should i drive it until the gas is low and top it up with 94 octane and then see if the check engine light goes away?

when it starts up i feel a rough idle, like an engine misfire, would this still be possible due to the bad gas or does this mean its a spark plug/coil issue? (replaced all spark plugs and coils 2-2.5yrs ago)

My friend and I took his '14 E-Class Mercedes for a free check at AutoZone. I'm afraid that Innova scanner failed to read the correct codes. At least try to invest in an Autel unit. Walmart has the one I'm linking and it was able to pull the codes, just not the definition, which you can look up online. Definitely update it before trying.

So the CEL came back on after the dealer cleared the codes? Hoping this would not happen and that your systems would self-correct after some driving. I just use a generic code reader and it pulls all of the details to help troubleshoot, and allows me to clear them. Still hoping it's not a major issue for you

Personally I would not want "auto parts store" employees tinkering with my Porsche.

When we went to AutoZone the counter guy just gave us the tool and we ran it by ourselves. Unfortunately the tool read a code that was not actually there. When I got the Autel tool from Walmart I connected it to my computer and updated it with their software. I ran it on his car and it came up with different codes. They were transmission codes, which I cleared, and didn't come back. I would have suspected one to be the same code but there were actually 3 and none of them matched the code given by the AutoZone loaner tool. We almost purchased the replacement part but luckily we didn't. I deduced it was wrong.

If you don't have a code reader at home then I'd just go along my merry way until the next check engine light.
