Sounds reasonable! Fingers crossed for you & its a simple issue.
Below is a link to an interesting post - apparently developer mode allows a greater in depth diagnosis of problems.

Let us know how you get on.

Cleared all codes. Started it up. Waited a couple minutes and took video of motor. It's peaceful until about 8 and a half minutes in, then starts running rough. Eventually it stalls.

I pull P1027 and P0190. It may be the fuel rail pressure sensor failing...

Looks like I did one of those unnecessary HPFP replacements. Interestingly it notes that PIWIS II has "guided fault finding". Hopefully I don't need to find/purchase special tools for low pressure fuel pump testing...

Which Position is Cylinder #3 Please?

So I'm starting to see misfiring, which I didn't see before. Something seems obviously off with the Foxwell as there will be a counter for each of the 8 cylinders. A nonzero number shows up on 3 most of the time. 6 and 7 had a few. Then eventually it would reset to zero. There is a # of 10 misfires counter but they stay consistently zero. I want to start working on #3. Should I replace the injector if I suspect some contaminant got in when I had the fuel rail off? Thanks.

I would stop throwing parts at the car until you can get a truly comprehensive view of what is going on. There is only so much info that a non-OEM bit of gear can pull from such a data-rich car. If you are dead set on doing something about it quickly, post on Facebook Marketplace or reach out to your local indy and see if you can throw a few hundred bucks at someone with a PIWIS to come to your house and hook the car up. Most independent mechanics would jump at the chance to make an easy $300-$400 for 10 mins of work.

Thank you for the response. I'll wait for the PIWIS I ordered to come in before I make any further purchases.

What got me a little nervous was how last time the dealer had it for two days and didn't seem to solve, what seems to me, the beginning of this problem. That was $527 if I recall correctly, for throttle adaptation reset. I guess monetary wise I did worse with ~$1200 for the HPFP I threw at it.

Keep us up to date, what is the Fuel Pump sensor and how easy is it to replace? Did you find out what the guided procedure is?

Found it, but for Cayenne, this is good reference though: https://www.pelicanparts.com/techart...eplacement.htm

I hope to receive the PIWIS next week and I'll let you guys know how well it works. Status is shipped but the field has an invalid tracking number: "xy" then the chinese characters for "computer". I do have concern that some foreign debris got into the fuel system when I had removed the fuel rail. I may have even bumped/damaged that sensor because I had forgotten it was attached. That said I feel comfortable opening things up that far again. I suspect that it had been damaged and is the cause of all my headache. I also have some concern that dirt that possibly got in is another cause. (It's actually warned that rough running is another possibility of dirt intrusion.)

Hope my wife is understanding that the labor saved from repairing the horns and other work makes up for the PIWIS price...

Gulp! If you don't hear from me, might want to look in the obituaries.... 😟

I'm going to be really frustrated if it doesn't help me figure out the problem, posthaste. But I have a bad feeling since all the dealer came up with is throttle adaptation, having it stay two nights.

Got a proper DHL tracking number. It has been released by Los Angeles Customs! Set to arrive by tomorrow night! 😁😁😁. Site warns of delay from 12 - 15 business days because of limited flights due to COVID.

Very excited.

Been checking daily, getting "Reduced engine power" on the display. Even if I clear the P0190 it pops right back up after maybe 10 seconds...

So the PIWIS 3 arrived yesterday afternoon. Opened it up, this is the VXDIAG version, as opposed to the VCI clone/look alike, and tried to get it to work. Nope it would not work with the USB connection. Tried Ethernet, nope. Then contacted support. Asked me to check VX Manager to verify driver for more details. I tried the USB again. This time connect USB from computer to VXDIAG, turn on computer, then connect VXDIAG to car. Computer and VXDIAG connect properly if done in this order. Nope, doesn't work. Then I find a section where it looks like VX Manager because it is all PIWIS after the initial Windows logo on boot up. I eventually connect the VXDIAG to the computer via USB and computer to my WIFI internet, and successfully update the darn firmware to the latest. By this time it is just shy of 2:30 am local time and I basically say goodnight via email as the last they asked me to try connecting using WIFI, which also did not work. I got up this morning to try yet one last time. Low and behold the darn thing works with everything updated as best I could except the PIWIS software which says it needs to be updated. Of course try to keep as low a profile as possible to avoid informing Porsche of your purchase, minimize your connection time to the WWW as much as possible....

So onto the cool car that has been sitting on the driveway now with cobwebs in the wheel wells.

It pulls two codes once I figure out how to use it:
P0190
P1024

There is a ton of additional information included that could basically read Klingon because I'm not sure the significance. For example last occurrence was at mileage 46802 mi. Strangely the ODO says 46800 mi. Lots of info about things like how long since last engine off, or how long the engine run time or DME hours. I'm just going off the top of my head I wish I could print it all but I'm not sure the option.

Then I try the guided fault finding. It actually works without a connection if you know the codes. The Foxwell seems accurate with pulling codes. Select your car model and item, in this case DME V8 ULEV from 2013. There's EU4 and EU5 but it's kind of obvious not those.
P0190 brings up Fuel Pressure Sender faulty connector, wiring, with a document with basic information on how to test. The second possibility is that the sensor is faulty. Test condition is engine running greater than 5 or 10 seconds. I'm sleepy so I forgot.
P1024-. Again issue with top of list FPS or HPFP failure
Looked up
P1027-. FPS or HPFP

Pulled off the intake manifold. The connector was connected BUT not fully seated! Fully pressed in I turned Ig-ON. No more P0190. Only stuff for having manifold off.
