I had installed the Joyeauto Carplay unit. Everything worked when it was connected to the vehicle. When I installed everything in the car, I got a blank screen (audio still there). Tried to diagnose, but ultimately reverted back to stock PCM. Now I have an image on the screen, but it is just vertical colored stripes.
Can anyone help with what to check for and get a proper images back on the screen? PCM version is 3.1. Thank you.
Isn't there a PCM reboot procedure that you can try? Maybe the system got 'confused' and simply needs to restore factory settings - best of luck sorting it out. I'm scheduled to install my Joyeauto system next week and hoping for clear sailing.
Usually, those stripes are caused by a failure on the logic board, or a failure of the panel itself on an LCD. They can also be caused by a poor connection between the LCD panel and the board shooting the signal to it. Make sure the ribbon connectors are all seated correctly.
Unhooked everything are reverted back to stock. Got the Porsche logo and all functions show up and work. Seems like one of the ribbon cables between the PCM and screen was not seated well when I had the Joyeauto unit installed. Good to know I didn't mess up anything on the car.
Reinstalled Joyeauto daughter card, box and connections making sure the ribbon cables were all firmly seated.
Now got nothing from the PCM. No audio, no picture
Joyeauto box has power.
Guessing one of the ribbon cables or LVDS cable is not working.
Will call into Joyeauto to see if they can help.
Now that I've done the installation a few times, seems like the important things to do are:
Make sure all ribbon cables are making contact, seated firmly in the connector and the connector is fully locked down.
Careful routing the LVDS cable to avoid sharp turns.
I only screwed down two of the screws holding the daughter board. Did not use the one closest to the LVDS connector on the board. I did zip tie the LVDS cable to the opening where the mounting screw would have gone. Board is fine with just the two screws.
It's actually pretty straight forward to install. Just don't rush it. That's probably my mistake.
got audio and screen back with Joyeauto box installed. Their tech support was very helpful, but had to remove, disassemble and reassemble a few times to debug. turns out that the ribbon cable to the screen either wasn't completely seated or came loose during reassembly.
Plus they sent a video showing to connect ribbon cables to screen first and then connect them to the Joyeauto daughtercard.
