D1S HID Bulb - 2016 Panamera

Have you ever tried the D1S? I have 2016 PAN PLDS, i notice my headlight is not bright as my other Panamera with PDLS+ . I am thinking to replace the current HID bulb on my Pan.

In the strong rainstorm a few weeks ago here in SoCal I researched D1S replacement bulbs. The best/highest performing appear to be one of these two: Philips X-TremeVision Gen 2 or OSRAM Night Breaker Laser XENARC. The only reason I bought the OSRAMs was because they were available "Shipped by Amazon" otherwise I would prefer the more honest +150% over the +200%...

you make the right choice, I have OSRAM Night Breaker Laser XENARC on my 2014 Cayenne. My PAN4s I have
OSRAM Xenarc Cool Blue Intense D1S Xenon HID Car Bulb (Twin) 66140CBI-HCB OSRAM Xenarc Cool Blue Intense D1S Xenon HID Car Bulb (Twin) 66140CBI-HCB
Amazon.
They are brighter than the original Porsche OSRAM HID bulbs. the PDLS+ is the BEST LED on my other Porsche. I need more light.

Try the Night Breaker Laser XENARC or Philips X-TremeVision Gen 2. I do believe out of the box (new) they have the highest output as of now...

Night Breaker Laser XENARC on the left, Standard D1S replacement center, and the Cool Blue Intense on the right.

I do have Panamera 4 2013 and I am thinking to change the headlight bulbs to LED. I found this , I was wondering if anyone tired led lights on head lights? How many bulbs we need for each headlights?

Wouldn't Mess with LEDs Personally.

I tried LEDs in the side marker lights just next to the front wheel wells and got an error warning. For the H7 bulbs I would buy them from Daniel Stern @ dastern@torque.net . Basically an H9 bulb on an H7 base. More info about him and his products here:

https://www.danielsternlighting.com/.../products.html

I can't promise they won't cause errors, I haven't tried them....

I'm kind of a light snob (started with flashlights, and extends to home, automotive, etc.)

I have the setup discussed above, and highly recommend it:
  • Low: OSRAM Xenarc Night Breaker Laser D1S Xenon Car Headlight Bulbs
  • High: 65W H7 from Dan Stern Lighting.
Philips D1S are also good, but more commonly counterfeited than Osram. Buy only from reputable seller and use the holographics/QR codes to verify on Philips/Osram website that you got a legit product.

PLEEEASE do not use cheap bulbs. (Or cheap bulbs being sold for high prices - that's all they are).
It's not like boutique exhausts or things like that, it requires more specialized manufacturing. Despite what the people marketing overpriced HID bulbs would like you to believe, HID bulbs are not a product where a tuner shop/brand is even physically capable of buying/manufacturing a superior product than the big brands, no matter how much they sell the bulb for.

Edit:
Public Service Announcement to anyone reading!!!

Please consider changing out your bulbs even if you don't think you "need" to. Bulbs lose brightness over time, and the downside to the fact that HID bulbs last so long is that they also lose a lot more brightness in those later years of operation. A halogen bulb may lose 15-20% brightness before it burns out in a 2-3 years. An HID bulb might last 10+ years and people's (valid) first reaction is "awesome!" - but the counterpoint is that they are running around with 10 year old bulbs that are burning 50-60% as bright as when they were new.
