Custom Intake version 2
Let me first give inspirational credit to striped91 and his thread (https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/panamera/405811-custom-cold-air-intake-hella-supertone-horns.html) as he gave me the initial idea which I built on.
Seeing what he did with his intake and knowing what I know about the Fabspeed intake, I decided to give it a go and put together my variation. I’m listing the steps and sources for the components used. Note that I have not taken the car out yet (hopefully in the next week but figured I’d document it now otherwise I’d likely forget or miss something).
I went with the Spectre Performance 3” tubes (24”) as he did but I found ordering through Amazon was a little cheaper (save $5) and with Prime I also saved shipping (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B005M1Z0RU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1]https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B005M1Z0RU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
I ordered the dual intake kit off eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/FOR-DODGE-SUV-TRUCK-3-7-4-7-V8-SHORT-RAM-DUAL-INTAKE-PIPE-3-5-RED-AIR-FILTER/153161382501?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.S EED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D12b25 1a432934db1a4ae90f016302434%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D 9%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D271097981000%26 itm%3D153161382501%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380 057%26brand%3DDNA+Motoring&_trksid=p2380057.c10067 5.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A40cf60b6-5ea1-11eb-b397-6689078ffa8b%7Cparentrq%3A36dd86261770a77dcce31bb0 ff9b9c96%7Ciid%3A1]https://www.ebay.com/itm/FOR-DODGE-SUV-TRUCK-3-7-4-7-V8-SHORT-RAM-DUAL-INTAKE-PIPE-3-5-RED-AIR-FILTER/153161382501?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.S EED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3D12b25 1a432934db1a4ae90f016302434%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D 9%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D271097981000%26 itm%3D153161382501%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380 057%26brand%3DDNA+Motoring&_trksid=p2380057.c10067 5.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A40cf60b6-5ea1-11eb-b397-6689078ffa8b%7Cparentrq%3A36dd86261770a77dcce31bb0 ff9b9c96%7Ciid%3A1).
I figured that I would be able to use the intake tube and if I wasn’t…$46 wouldn’t have been a big loss. (Note the filters are 3.5” and I ended up having to order 3” filters through Amazon. (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DS2LQPL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1]https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07DS2LQPL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)
Now mating the components together involved getting 3.5” to 3” couplers and I opted for the 45 degree versions, I found at (http://Siliconeintakes.com]Siliconeintakes.com). They were reasonable at $50 (including shipping)
Last pieces were some clamps to finish things up (Amazon for speed and testing). I confess that in order to make this all work I had to reduce the length of the 3.5” collector from the dual intake kit. Unfortunately it was trial and error and I didn’t measurements before and after. Right now everything fits snugly and looks good. Bumper is going back on and once I button up the lower panel, I’ll take her out for a spin. In the meantime here are some pictures.
Notice the rubber hose I split to eliminate rubbing between the intake tube and the frame rails. I had leftover hose from something.
Costs:
Spectre 3" piping: $43.80
Intake kit: $48
Silicone hoses: $50
Filters: $17
Clamps: $15
Total: $173.80 (beats the ~$700+ for the alternative options, but we shall see how performance is...I see the car breathing better than the stock intake though. . And it looks cool!

Welp...got her started and she purrs. Initially there was a code for misfire on cylinder 5, but I think it was due to the car just sitting for so long. I'm happier than a clam in the ocean.
