2016 Panamera Paint Thickness

Hi,

The Panamera I am purchasing has a clean Carfax but I want to ensure it has not been repainted. Would anyone know what the factory paint thickness is so I can have them check the panels while I am there at the dealer before I take delivery of the car?

If they say the car has never been accidented, does that mean I can assume it has not been repainted?

Thanks

CarFax is good start but only records claims on vehicle. If owner self-pays for repair (example bumper repaint for stone chips) then will not show on report. Also, typically only damage above ~$2000 will get onto report. For example, my wife had a minor front end fender bender on her Toyota (her fault). Both vehicles repair under insurance. Repair was about $1900CDN and CarFax pulled clean. I still disclosed when I sold privately but report did not show any damage or claim on vehicle.

Paint thickness is good idea and many Porsche dealers will do when taking in used cars to ensure vehicles are clean. Exception is bumpers because they are plastic so harder to gauge paint thickness. Good independent PPI is often suggested on this forum (and other forums). I would tend to agree.

Thanks vkb123. I spoke with the dealer today and they told me that by looking at the various hinges and bolts, it doesn't appear that any panels were repainted and they will also use a paint thickness gauge over the entire car and at different areas of each panel.

Hi,

All panels are between 5.1 and 6.3. I believe that would be within manufacturing parameters. Is that right?

Thanks
