I just bought a set of wheels that came with original TPMS sensors. The wheels are now installed on the car, but the car does not recognize them (error message).
Is there an easy way to reset the TPMS, or do I have to go the dealer to get them reset?

Once new wheels are installed you need to set the tire type (summer, winter, all season) and the diameter (18”, 19”, 20”) in the instrument cluster. The car will then register the new TPMS sensors. If can take a bit of driving for the sensors to be recognized. No reset is needed.
If the sensors aren’t recognized the batteries might be dead. Batteries can’t be replaced so you will need new sensors. Battery life can be seen with a PIWIS diagnostic tool.
Also, TPMS sensors changed between 2013 and 2014. The sensors on the wheels you bought might be incompatible with your car.
I have purchased many wheels (and sensors) over the years. Sensors can be purchased on-line for MUCH less compared to the dealer. I would suggest Huf Intellisense sensors. I would recommend calling your local dealer to get the OEM part numbers for the sensors for your car based on your VIN then source on-line. I would just replace all 4 sensors rather than trying to figure out the used ones. Any tire shop can swap them for you.
Thanks vkb123 for the detailed response. Very helpful.
It’s possible that the sensors are from a later model. I have a 970.1 and I guess they could be from a 970.2, so I’ll order the new ones you recommend.
I’m impressed by the price difference: $130 for the Porsche sensors and $30 for the after market product. Are the AM ones more complicated to program? Do they last as long?

Yes, very likely the case. It’s assumed that just because the wheels fit that the sensors are compatible. Unfortunately this is not the case between 970.1 and 970.2.

Not at all. Exactly the same. In fact, Huf is the OE supplier of the Porsche branded sensors. You are essentially paying the “Porsche tax” to get the branded ones. I’ve purchased from tpms.com (I have no affiliation) many times. I get the Huf Intellisens sensors. Look and work exactly like OEM. Make sure you get new valve stems too. Valve stems can be colour coded to your wheels - for example I get “gun metal” finish for my Turbo II wheels as the wheel barrel is that colour. I currently have 3 sets of wheels and I’ve bought and sold many others in the past (my wife tells me I have a “shoe” problem!).
BTW...if the sensors you remove have good battery life (most tire shops have a sensor reader and can tell you this once they are removed from the wheel), you can usually flip them for $100 for a set of 4 on Craigslist. Make sure you get a pic of each sensor on the reader showing battery is good.
Got TPMS warning message twice. First time a few weeks ago I ordered a Dorman sensor part # per their website on Amazon. Cleared It. Today my wife complained about the same warning message and I had America's Tire install it. (They charged me $30). By the time I drove off it programmed itself and cleared...
Woke up and adjusted pressures to where I wanted them. Then got in to get gas. This is what I saw, but resolved as soon as I backed up and turned to drive forward out the driveway. My guess is it doesn't wake up the same as the OEM. No errors/warnings.

My Autel ITS600 makes me choose between 433 MHz and 315 (IIRC). It seems Porsche may have switched frequencies in 2013, or Autel just doesn't know...

I didn't want to start another thread on TPMS so I'm riding on this one.
Recently lost all TPMS signals since it has been 15 years now. So I ordered the Intellisens HUF dualband 315 / 433 mhz sensors (Pelican Parts said theyre compatible with my 2010 Pan S 970.1)
I did all the steps @vkb123 shared. Unfortunately, i still get the NO MONITORING SYSTEM IS LEARNING error message on the dash with no TPMS readings at all after 1.5 hours of driving around doing approximately 30 miles doing various speeds from 20mph to 80mph.
I got no reading at all. Grrrr! Any thoughts guys? TPMS sensors sleeping?
Sharing these pix / dash shots....
Any thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated! TIA!

I purchased the pre-programmed Dorman sensor and it simply programmed itself if I remember correctly. I noticed in your image it said pre-programmed. Maybe they were programmed to the wrong frequency...
EDIT- Should be 433 MHz. This is the same sensor I purchased for our '13:

Thank you @jzchen for your inputs. Really appreciate it. I will take a look at those TPMS - click on the link.
However, my ORIGINAL TPMS sensors are 315mhz and not 433mhz that is why I got the Intellisens Uv750 transmitting on both bands 315mhz and 433mhz from HUF (Dualband type).
Im torn between getting new ones again (OEM this time around $400) or to dismount the sensors and get their FCC IDs so I can try to code using Foxwell tool and input the FCC IDs manually into the Pan TPMS system. Not sure what route to take :-(
@fullmetaljacket I did catch the 315 MHz on the old sensor. I wasn't sure I understood they for sure worked? I'm surprised that Dorman says they are supposed to be 433 MHz, and am doubtful that Porsche would use two different frequencies for the same model...
I must say if you're confident they should be 315 MHz then the new ones may be set to 433 MHz and are simply not recognized. I can't imagine all four being defective.

Thank you @jzchen I'm not discounting the fact that you or Dorman may be right. However, there are 2 facts: 1st is the old TPMS sensors have 315mhz markings. I'm the 1st owner of this vehicle so I know these 315mhz sensors came originally with the Pan. 2nd is the new TPMS sensors I got are dual bands so if the Pan is indeed 433mhz, I won't be having this problem since these Intellisens I got transmits and receives on both 315mhz and 433mhz.
Maybe... just maybe the TPMS sensors I got are still sleeping (?) and they need to be awakened? Or maybe they are defective..? I'm running out of ideas and theories here haha
I ran my Foxwell scan tool and did a TPMS scan... the system seem to not see the sensors...so maybe you're right. Will look for bargain / cheap 433mhz sensors and install to test... so as not to break the bank..... again :-( Thanks again!
UPDATE / EDIT - I came accross Chinese made TPMS 433mhz matching the Pan TPMS sensor OEM part number 997 606 023 21 on ebay...around $30 bucks only. Will give this a try and hope that they work and gets recognized.

I'm doubtful the sensors broadcast both frequencies simultaneously. You program them to send one of the two 433 or 315, and an ID. Since you seem to have purchased the sensors everyone are recommending they appear to be set to 433 MHz. Ask the seller which frequency they were programmed to...

Thanks for the insight.Would definitely ask the seller. Is there a way to reprogram these sensors or am I stuck with whatever frequency they were programmed to?

I researched programming tools before and typically each manufacturer has a proprietary tool to program them. I found those tools (usually) too expensive to be cost effective, so I didn't find buying a Dorman programmer reasonable as an example. I know Autel TPMS was highly recommended in the Toyota Sienna forums, BUT that doesn't help you with the sensors you bought. I also have no idea whether they have erasable memory or not, especially the one you bought.
