Bump stops?

I found these pieces inside the dust boots of the front shocks (2016 4S, non-air suspension).
On both sides, 3 pieces in each boot. Two pieces are intact, one is broken.
All have part number 970.343.803.00, but a search turns up nothing.
The dust boots have a tear in them I noticed them just floating around in there. They may have been attached around the piston rod at one time, like a bump stop, but 3 of them??? There is a full bump stop at the top of the shock.
Anyone know what these are?

No, there’s already a bump stop like that at the top of the piston rod, and is concentric to the rod and must be installed before the shock is mounted in the car. These parts have an opening as if they are supposed to clip on to a tube - like the piston rod. But all 3 stacked on the rod would take up about 3” - way too much.
Its really odd that each shock had the same 3 pieces - one relatively intact, one looks to be spread open, and one broken in half.
But I’ll need to remove the shock soon to replace the upper wishbone so maybe I’ll replace the bump stop with this part.
