Nov 18 OC "Food Drive"

Hi, I'm from bimmerforums, I'm planning a monthly get together that i would like to extend an invitation to. I want to organize a meet on Thursday, November 18th, a week before Thanksgiving, at the Tustin Market Place in front of the old Ikea at 6pm. But I don't want this to just be a meet, I want to have "Food Drive".

If everyone could please bring with them a couple cans of food to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank. it could really make a difference. 456,000 people in Orange County won't have enough food this month. As OC residents, I know this seems far-fetched, but it is true, and many of these people are seniors and children. Unfortunately, food banks are unable to meet needs to feed these people. By donating just a little bit of extra food, you can make a family's thanksgiving this year. This will be a great way to give back to our community, and have some fun in the process. Canned food and non-parishable food (like mac and cheese) are the most needed. If you forget to bring your cans of food, monitary donations are also needed to buy food. Every 1 dollar buys about 12 dollars of food worth wholesale, so even a little makes a big difference.

After everyone arrives with the food (We will wait until 7pm) someone will bring the food to one of the food bank locations. I will talk to this person about staying late to make sure that stragglers have a chance to drop off their donations if needed. At 7 we will leave on a drive, hence the name: the food drive. The drive will be a nice loop around OC. Jamboree to Santiago Canyon to El Toro, to Laguna Canyon, to PCH, and back up Jamboree. This will NOT be a canyon run! A calm cruise, all egos will be left in the parking lot, or you will be asked to leave. Like i said, i want this to be a monthly event, and getting the cops attention on the first meet is not the way to make this work.

Please, link this to other forums you are a part of as well, if we could get a good showing of people and a decent donation of food, it would be great.

Here is the address and a map of the Tustin Market Place:
2777 El Camino Real Tustin, CA 92782-8908

For more information on how to donate food and other needed items, or for ideas on what to bring, please viset: www.feedoc.com

If we get a good show, I want to have a competition between forums, see which one can bring the most food. (1 dollar=1 can of food).

list of who is attending:

It doesn't look like this will be very big. Oh well, people just better bring a lot of cans!

I did the drive today to see how long it would take and it if is possible. A news flash: The old Ikea is now a Best Buy, so we won't have a big empty parking lot. Shoot. But I'm sure there will be enough parking for a small group of people, so no worries. We will park towards the end of the lot, near the In N Out. So someone could grab a quick bite to eat in the hour we are waiting. WE WILL LEAVE PROMTLY AT 7! No slacking, and no waiting to get your double double until 6:55 and expecting us to wait for you to scarf it down.

The cruise is long, about 45 miles. SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE GAS! We will be passing a Chevron right before Santiago Canyon (10 miles in) so if anyone needs gas, we can detour. But I don't want to, the logistics arenĂ¢â‚¬â„¢t that great.

We will be passing every major freeway and toll road that runs through the area, so anyone who wants to leave early will be able to. There are a few good places for us to meet up if anyone gets left behind, which they might seeing that El Toro is being widened right now and its a little hard to get through.

The drive is staying pretty much the same, with only one small change to cut a couple miles off the cruise.

We are going to leave the center turning Left onto Jamboree. We travel about 10 miles down that then turn Right onto Santiago Canyon. Santiago canyon turns into El Toro which turns into the 133 we turn Left where that dead ends, and take that road to where it dead ends at PCH. We turn Right onto PCH, and drive that for another 10 miles. We are going to turn Right onto McArther and then Right onto Jamboree. From there, we take Jamboree down and back to the Market Place. If anyone has any questions let me know.

If anyone feels as though they need a map, I'll make some. And PLEASE bring your radio and your V1. I will be leading, but I do not have a V1. If we could have someone with a V1 near the front that would be super. And last but not least DONĂ¢â‚¬â„¢T FORGET YOUR DONATIONS!
