KARTING DAY is SET!: SAT, FEB 25th, call in to reserve your kart right away!
EVENT INFO for ALL ATTENDEES:
Track details and directions can be found at:
http://www.moranraceway.com
START TIME:
Our event starts at 9am sharp, so leave with plenty of time to get there on-time.
END TIME:
Event ends at 1pm. We can individually add on kart rental time if anyone wants up 'til 3pm. Most people are pretty tired out by 1pm, so just play it by ear and if you want more driving at the time, go for it. Most people are tired out by 1 and ready to chill out.
WHAT'S YOUR KARTING ABILITY LEVEL?:
Each attendee needs to tell Julie when you sign up:
*Ability level (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced)
> Beginner: Never karted, or just once, want to learn basics.
> Intermediate: Karted a few times, maybe attended a school, have all basics down, want to learn advanced techniques and get speedy.
> Advanced: Attended schools, raced before, know it all, Bobby Rahal keeps calling you to come drive for him.
With this info, the track staff can organize instructional and lapping groups into similar experience/ability levels so when you lap it's a compatible group and fun for all. Don't worry, there are no grades, times, awards. It's all about hanging with your friends, having fun driving, learning new skills or improving the ones you've got.
If anyone has any questions, PM and I'll be happy to help ya however I can.
YOUR OWN KARTS?
If you own a kart, you *can* bring it. It'll save you $20, which ain't much, but if you absolutely don't want to drive the track's karts, it's okay. My thought is that if everyone's in the same kart this time, it'll be more even speed-wise and nobody will be surprised by a much faster kart blowing by them. After this event, if you didn't use your kart, you can always come to the track's open practice days where it's a mix of all kinds of karts. I'll even meet you and rent a track kart so you have someone to beat up on.
YOUR OWN SAFETY GEAR?
Bring it if you want, use the track's instead if you want. They have everything you need. Just don't wear sandals.
FOOD?
I eat light while karting. I bring a little cooler with sports drinks, cookies, energy/protein bars, maybe a piece of fruit or light sandwich. Be SURE to bring liquids and something for quick energy. If you eat heavy foods in between on-track sessions, you may not feel so well since cornering squishes your stomach to your insides a bit.
BRING YOUR SPORTS CAR?
The parking lot is a gravel surface, so ideally, I wouldn't bring a low sports car. I'm not bringing mine. I'm borrowing mother-in-law's minivan to bring up SD guys. If you only have a sports car, and nobody likes you enough to let you in their carpool, just drive slow in the parking lot and you'll probably be okay.
