macmann is infamous around these parts
Did anyone with the RUF bumpers have to trim the ducting to make the bumper fit better?

yup. It took me about 2 hours of slow and steady trimming of the center duct before the bumper would sit just right. there wasn't any trimming of the side ducts though.

John if you have that bumper off please do take many pics! Your's was installed by RUF right? If so we know it's right so pictures could be very helpful. Irish and I got his center duct done with some head scratching and while I'm not 100% certain it was right I'm sure it's working lol. I strongly suspect my GT2 styled glass bumper isn't done right so I'd like to see pics myself so I can correct mine in the future....

Thanks!

Yes, RUF did mine. I'll post up some pics over the weekend. I am swapping in new radiators so I have everything exposed right now.

Nope, not here. Got all new OEM radiators right at $1200. My originals lasted 15 years including 5 years of hard track use. Quite happy with their performance. They're actually still fine but I'm just doing a preventative replacement. I'll keep the originals in the trailer as spares.

I agree with the other folks. Here is how the middle inlet should look. I think you have the OEM stock inlet. Hope this helps!

For you guys doing the RUF bumpers, a little heads up. I'm getting ready to replace the front radiators and figured I'd install all new coolant hoses up front as they are 13+ years old. Low and behold the left and right hoses that connect to the center radiator on both sides are only available in Germany. I copied all the part numbers from the hoses on the car and called my parts guy. These hoses are GT2 parts since the radiator is flipped and canted forward 3". I'm not sure if RUF is including these with the bumper kit but I don't think so. I just ordered mine from Germany as there is no stock in the US. Part numbers are 996.106.621.80 and 996.106.625.80. Each hose connects the coolant pipe in the wheel well with the respective side radiator and center radiator. You will need these for a proper install.

Numbers added to parts spreadsheet, thanks! From what I recall no hoses had to be purchased for Irish to install his bumper...

Looking forward to pics John, thank you!

I'm not sure how you could use the OEM TT hoses as the connection to the center radiator is in a different spot as the radiator is upside down and canted forward. Is there enough flex in the stock TT hoses? Do the RUF instructions have you flip the radiator upside down just like on a GT2 or Cup car, correct?

I think the reason my car is different is the fact that RUF performed a complete conversion back in 2004 when the car was only 2 years old. They sent a RUF tech here from Phaffenhausen with a crate full of stuff to do the conversion. I think on the full RUF conversions they used all GT2 parts as the hoses are GT2, so is the center radiator bracket as well as the rear center duct. The 3 forward facing ducts are RUF. The center bumper brace does not appear to be trimmed or modified in any way as others have mentioned. It seems that they made the later bumper kits that were sold separately with certain modifications so that they could be used with the OEM TT parts. That's the only way I can explain it. Hope this helps. Here are some of the pics:

This is looking at the top of the center radiator with the rear duct removed but the radiator spacer present (with bolt removed). This spacer (one on each side) slides though the rear duct. The C clip visible keep the duct from moving.

This is looking at underneath the front driver's side radiator forward from just outside the left wheel well. You can see the GT2 hose which connects with the hard pipe on the right, the radiator lower connection on the left, and T's off to the front where it connects to the center radiator. This is the hose part number 996.106.625.80.

Very nice, thank you! I'll ask Irish about the hoses when we talk next, he just had to replace his bumper so he will know for sure. If he has spare hoses I might want them :-D
