Got My Fuel! 104 Baby!

Finally got a free weekend to play with my car. Since I installed my Sambo Stage 3 hardware over a month ago, I have yet to enjoy the car or even install my tune ;(

But, now......I was lucky to find a dealer less than 10 minutes from me to hook me up with the good stuff

Installing my Stage 3 map on a 50/50 blend of 104 and 91. Will report back with initial impressions. Stay tuned.

Exciting! Good gas (100 octane & accompanying tune) has given me biggest performance gain I've had yet.

Not sure why you would blend 50/50.

The only advantage to more octane is with a tune to complement.

Run the 104 alone with the 100 octane tune and really see the fun!

Mark, I am certainly looking forward to it. Until now, have been living vicariously through you and many other pioneers on this board. Thanks

Cam, I can't wait. We have a track here at 4500' elevation and I hope to test it on the 16th, for the Friday night street cars. Then I will try to go to Sacramento either the week before or after and compare the different elevation runs. Sacrement is on 30'

I have a couple of different maps coming and will be running a higher octane map for this one. I have Stage 3 and will have a Stage 3 high octane tune. Also, I am at higher elevation, so we will see how that plays out.

You've got mail!

A, I have a tune we did that really kicks *** with about 95 oct for guys that want to blend with the Sonoco. 580 to the wheels and just under the 100 map on stock turbo's. Especially when fighting crap 91 and higher altitude thin air it is a real kick in the pants problem solver.

Trader I'm gonna head to Sacramento when it cools down in November, I'll keep in touch and maybe we can meet up at the track and rip off some good runs

I would go like 2 gallons of 93 to 4 gallons of 104 and you will have a nice 100 octane result. That is what I try to shoot for at the dragstrip, about two gallons left when I arrive and then add four gallons of 104 to that.

Got it, thanks Sam.

I have 91 here, so not quite as good. But with the 104 I can pretty much adapt. The further strip from me is 125 miles and no 104 there, so I must fill up before I go.

That is a serious bummer. Up until yesterday I though I was double ducked. I am at 4500 ish elevation with 91 oct gas. Now I find out that I can get 104 and the strip in the next state over is only 30 ft elevation, best of both worlds.

Maybe you can order the fuel via freight. Good luck, can’t wait to hear more about your build.

Those jugs will fit in the trunk so you can bring it and fill up there.

Time it so you're almost out of gas when you arrive and then put half the jug in.

This morning I finally installed my Cobb AP and one of the maps I got from Sam. I was initially going to go straight to the race fuel map, but decided to first install the Cobb and try a custom stage 3 map from Sam for my crap 91 octane gas. Naturally, I was a bit nervous. But, Sam assured me of how to do each step while going trough the process. Total install was less than 10 minutes. Very easy, no CEL or any error codes whatsoever.

Initial impressions. $hit this thing is ducking fast. I called Sam with my top down and was soooo excited, he could hear me getting on the gas. Wow, this car is crazy.

It took awhile for my time to free up to finally get my Cobb and map installed. I initially had just the stage 3 hardware installed (full Kline exhaust, headers, hi-flo cats, ByDesign IC's and air filter). I wanted to see how the car performed with just the hardware and admittedly was a bit timid about installing a tune.

The car certainly gained performance and sound with the hardware. It was like I had 2 cars in 1. I had a nice GT cruiser and then I had a much more sounding exotic with the exhaust. This was all fine. However, now that I located some good gas and more importantly got some free time I just had to install my tune. It had been on my mind for months.

With the tune the car is a complete package. It is like a totally different car when you get on it. The car is really a next level car. And, when I got this car it was a next level car already. Also, the exhaust is starting to pack in and just sounds better and better each day. This thing seems like a freaking super car now, super car sound, super car speed, etc. It is just a complete package.

I'm busted. I think I must have seen that pic to get the idea.

Thanks for the inspiration.
