Hi all,
Just thought I'd share another experience with the 2.5 and LWFW.
Ordered the kit from Sam with the RS LWFW and have put about 150 break in miles on it so far. Absolutely love it!
Very responsive and in my opinion...easier to drive than the stock clutch/flywheel.
Clutch pedal pressure is the same as stock.
Zero chatter at idle or any rpm even with the AC on.
I would say the only hiccup so far is that it has stalled a few times when slowing and downshifting into second gear. I'm assuming we can tune that out and SAMs going to to a custom tune for me anyways since I also had ID1000'S installed for E85. (Yes Sam, I still owe you a message and some funds for the maps!)
As always, Sam's been great to work with!
For any considering a new clutch and LWFW, don't hesitate to do it if you're looking at the kit he's put together. I would do it again in a heartbeat (based on my experience so far.)
Oh and if you're running a Cobb stage 2 on the stock clutch...consider biting the bullet and just upgrading it now. Mine was fine for about 1000 miles...then 6th started slipping at WOT...then 5th. So I thought , "I'll just drive it and avoid flooring it in those gears". I was dumb.
I don't race and I don't hard launch or drop the clutch. I've been driving manuals for 20 years and this is the first clutch I've ever had to replace. This is what the flywheel looked like.
It is a sprung clutch in this kit.
I was a little surprised that there's no noise at all but it's the first thing I listened for.
When I talked to Sam initially he mentioned they're using some different parts to help reduce the chatter. I think it's the 764 PP, sprung disc from the 964 parts bin and the RS 4.0 LWFW. I'll let him chime in to confirm.
I don't know if I'm the rule or the exception but I like it so far.
Of course, maybe you're right and the shop just put in a used pizza box instead of the LWFW... haha!
Hi guys. Lol! Thanks for the kind words. The Porsche LWFW goes back to the 964. However there are updated components now from the 997RS parts bin. The 4.0 disc does a great job for resisting chatter and noise. It's there if you listen for it but very very acceptable. Especially if everything is replaced and properly lubed. Shop knows what they're doing also. Feel free to contact me anytime for questions or details guys. With the 764 PP this set up holds 700-800 hp too!
Finally someone that agrees with me about life....hands down best mod for this car really turns it into a race car....a couple of things you should note...
Car will stop stalling after a couple of drive cycles as your computer will learn...
My car also has very little to no chatter but when run on track or during very hot days when you really get that tranny temp up...it shows up just a bit with ac on...but still very faint...just to give you the heads up.....great mod..
This is a great set up. The 964RS FW is one of the few bargains out there too as you can get them for $350. I've been running the 764/4.0/964RS combo for 3 years now at the track on a built 3.8 and it's been perfect. I have it paired with the GT2 hydraulics.
I have the sebro lwfw paired with the Porsche rs 4.0 disc as its spring reduces chatter compared to previous variants. There is a Porsche flywheel although it cost a ton more money!
Sebro is an OEM supplier to Porsche. The Porsche fw is the same part in a very expensive Porsche box.

I was thinking that as sebro also make rotors for $300 per axle whereas the dealer commands close to $600
In England we call that daylight robbery! Ha
You can find the sebro rotors on pelican parts..
Slight changing subject I did buy a set of non OEM brake pads. Went with a set of Stop tech street pads. Found them on tire rack for $63
I am referring to the 6 piston size pads, what a bargain! I haven't ran them hard in any canyons yet although they feel pretty similar to the OEM compound.
Just giving word to the wise, maintenance does not have to leave you penny less
Brake pads is the biggest scam out there as a set of front and rear PFC pads is now almost $1000. No cheap options for race pads unfortunately.

Keep us posted on the Stoptech street pads. I'd love to hear how they work for you.
Great choice, I have Sam's 764 clutch combo on our car too. Aasco flywheel in this case. We don't make that much power, just 600, but this clutch took a full season of pro solo drag launches - over 250 now, with boost off the line too.
