Strut Brace - Factory?

I've got a carbon fiber strut brace on my car (that I think had been the source of a rattle that's been driving me nuts, was a little loose). Upon some searches, I dont' think this piece is factory, or did they come with a CF strut brace?

No. And it is really not doing much either - aside from bling. So if it rattles, get rid of it. The 996/7 does not need a strut tower brace.

Looks like that is from Ecklers (Performance Products) from some time ago.

I've actually heard from guys who track their car pretty hard that is beneficial and noticeable difference.

The 997 Cup cars run one, and this in addition to the full cage..

PN is 99750423390

It was required for Carrera Cup cars beginning a few years ago due to front end chassis flex.

Pg 15 of this document describes the piece http://pgt3ccb.com/images/media/Tech..._addendum1.pdf

Will it make a difference on the street with a car running soft suspension spring rates, probably not.. But for the race cars, it is seen to be a benefit and in fact a requirement for racing in some regions.

The strut brace works. Porsche installed strut braces as a retrofit on late model 997Cups. I have one on my car... It does stiffen the chassis especially if you are running stiff springs as I am (1400/1500).

That piece reminds me of the Rennline piece, except with carbon center rod instead of aluminum... They only offer aluminum on the site, but there are pics showing a carbon one

Too bad no one make a triangulated strut brace that also bolts to the firewall for maximum stiffness

The 997 part number I posted above does exactly this.
