It's been a week since I put the new coils on. I have to say the car has never run better. The only thing I changed was the plug gap from .028 to .032"... I have mods on it and run at 1.3 bar. It has never run quite right until now. I will run it at the drag strip Friday for a comparison.

For some reason I can't access the napol website to take a better look at the coils. Do you know how they are different from OEM ones? That thicker design looks like the newest 997 coil, but curious how they differ.

Glad you like them, I will be installing 997 coils in my 996tt very soon.

+1 if you find out the specs on these coils too let me know.
The consensus around the VW and BMW forums were they were not any better than OEM stuff and I couldn't find any real reviews on them.

Just curious how these coils have been treating you and if you ever got the specs...

I haven't made it to the drag strip yet. It just started to give a random misfire at high rpm and boost. It is running rich and I did increase the gap so it is hard to say.the misfires are slight.

s65e90 is infamous around these parts
This is an older thread but someone else here purchased those coils from amazon I believe and said they were junk and returned them.

Also, those rear spacers are huge!

I always shake my head as I don't understand why people keep trying to reinventing the wheel with coils and plugs and all they keep doing is chase issues. I've always run stock plugs right out of the box (never fooled with tapping) and OEM coils without any issues on a built 3.8 race motor running 1.3 bar. Engine runs perfect and plugs are a light grey when I've checked them after 5000 miles of track use. For up to 700hp applications the OEM stuff just plain works...

Those gave me misfires because the electrode is so thin that it wore down and widened the gap after several years.
I'm back to oem

Several YEARS? Iridium is waaay tougher than copper will ever hope to be. You won't get the same mileage on copper for sure. I've put Iridium plugs through hell and had them work well, when my current plugs wear down I may switch to them in this car depending upon how long the coppers live.

It was probably around 6 years but only 8k miles that those plugs were in my car before I purchased it. When I changed them because of misfiring, the iridium electrode had worn down to a tip and were all gapped at 0.06 from wearing down. I'm certain you have more experience modding then I do but that's my personal experience with them.

I wonder if they wore or if it widened out.
